Nothing wrong with MP3 format, guys, if they had chosen to go that route. Believe me, you may think you can hear a difference, but at around 192Kbps and up encoding in VBR format, the human ear has an extremely difficult time picking up on artifacts and quality loss.

No... Don't believe this guy, people.

Trust me. The average consumer can't tell a difference between FLAC and VBR 256Kbps. I'm not going to explain why you should listen to me, but let's just say I know a lot about sound and physics.

You clearly don't know anything, so I don't know why you're bothering. I don't really care if your a self-proclaimed sound designer or whatever, but this: "...at around 192Kbps and up encoding in VBR format, the human ear has an extremely difficult time picking up on artifacts and quality loss.", is just plain wrong.

.wav is the best possible option when it comes to quality. Some people will be pissed with 128kbps tracks since the quality is kind of Meh. Tracks you download from iTunes or Amazon are at 256kbps on average.

Aye. That's the biggest load of bull I've ever hear. I can hear the difference easily with my X-Fi Forte and Sennheiser HD 595 combo. I'm nitpicker when it comes to audio and lossless format vs. lossy MP3 is no contest. Other lossy formats offer better quality too than MP3.

Same.  This soundtrack is easily the best of the three.

How would you guys rank the tracks so far?

These are clearly not battle themes though. Since I like synth a lot better, I'll probably like those a lot more. Hopefully.

You can't tell me Mars isn't a great battle theme.

I'd say the same for Sur Kesh. And I haven't listened it all yet.

Mars sounds good, but sur'kesh's combat music is still my favorite. Gets the blood flowing.

The OST is really awesome. There's not a single bad or mediocre track, and there are a few masterpieces.

I have to admit that some tracks sounded very familiar. Like I have heard them before... Not saying that I don't like 'em or that they are bad.

I never said people can't tell a difference. Did I? I said the average consumer can't tell. Pop a pair of headphones on 1000 people and play an MP3 followed by a FLAC or WAV, I guarantee you only a small percentage will be able to tell which is which with strong certainty.

The last part of "And end once and for all" sounds like a cliffhanger.

I have favourites, but they don't have ranks. These would be:
  • Leaving Earth
  • Mars
  • A Future for the Krogan
  • Surkesh
  • Rannoch
  • The Scientists
  • I Was Lost Without You
  • We Face Our Enemy Together
  • An End, Once and For All
  • Credits
In short, the majority of the CE soundtrack. Looking forward to the full thing.

That's probably the main reason why I can't rank it as my favorite song from the soundtrack.
