I had the same fears due to all the rumors going around, so I couldn't take it anymore and I looked up the endings. Granted, I didn't go into to great detail, but I know the gist of it. Now, I have to say, I'm not worried at all. I actually like the endings, so now I'm a little disappointed that I looked it up, but I know that I will be happy with it. There are some aspects of it that I don't like, but I still like the ending over all. I think it just depends on your own personal preference.

Damnit dude, thanks for throwing THAT curveball in the mix!!

I don't think the endings are bad per se, they are just a reflection that BioWare doesn't want to do branching storylines.

But, there isn't much closure at the end, though. It really leaves you wanting for me (and not in a good way).

A friend of mine just spoiled the ending for me on purpose.

At first I laughed at him and didn't believe him.
Then I went online and confirmed.

It's like a big ridiculous joke.

I can't believe I had defended Mass Effect's writing in the past.

Holy ***.

I can honestly say I feel sorry for the guys who already gave their money for this.

You've been trolling this place for awhile, get out of here with that "I've defended them in the past" nonsense.

I have no idea myself, but from comments it seems like there is no fairy-tale like ending, which I'm fine with.

just an observation, everyone who's played the entire game and has seen what has lead up to the ending seems to have liked the ending, most people who didn't like it only read what happens or heard it on youtube.

My only question would be, why make your customers angry?

this is easy to answer.

because realisticly you cant please everyone

every gamer has a different taste on story, gameplay, and even endings

how is that not hard to sink in?

do you think writting a story is just simple? because if it is write a whole script for me3 to please every gamer of every genre without favoring one or the other

Except, no one is complaining about the whole script. It's the ending. It's fairly easy to make a good ending, a bad ending, a sad ending. I could pull it off in 5 minutes.

Instead, what they really ran with was making a bad ending shed in bad light, a bad ending shed in a sad light, and a bad ending shed in a good light.

i know whats gona happen wich i have stated multiple times. the ending fisaco will be fixed with dlc

i say this because i have a hard time believing that this game will be left unanswered

and before people start to pee and moan about price for it lets just wait because for all we know it could be free

That was my first guess too. I think they made the ending the way they did to set up for either an expansion or a dlc that continues the end or finalizes it. That is something I was expecting all along before me3 came out.

It will probably have as many "ending dlcs" as dragon age origins does.

I hope you'r right. It would be nice if after stoping the Reapers we could in DLCs go out and fixing the wrongs that still exist and maybe talk to some old friends. :)

If you like Deus Ex and such I don't see why you would not like ME3 ending.

I played the game Deus Ex, and I didn't see anything wrong with it's endings. STILL  we won't really know how the game will end UNTIL WE ACUTALLY PLAYED THE GAME.

The thing I am amazed of is just how invested people seem to be in that trilogy. People seem to actually enjoy hating on something instead of moving on with their lives, concluding that that something does not suit their needs.

Wasnt the point of the ME series to create your own Shepard and walk through the story your way?
Then why is it wrong some people want to have Shepard walking in to sunset with their LI? And have the ending they want to THEIR story.

Ofcourse I dont know all the endings, but I hope the endings are really different from each other.
I mean you make certain choices in all 3 games, and is it so hard for Bioware to make the last ending of the Shepard story like everybody wants and all their (important) choices will reflect in those endings?

Look at The Witcher 2, it has alot of different endings depending on your choices. And if CD Project Red can do something like that, that I think Bioware can do that to

Foxhound, your arrogance has become an annoyance. Know this while you troll in vain:There is nothing you can do to stop mass effect 3 being awesome tuesday at the stores. Prepare yourself for the arrival.

I am hardly trolling. I am stating facts. Bioware admitted that it will make some people angry long before the leaks came out.

"It's going to make some people extremely happy. It's going to make some
people angry. But that's part of it, right? To invoke the emotion
putting some of these stories to bed will naturally bring up.

Depending on the type of person you are, you will have to swallow a little bit of emotion when you get the ending. It's not what some people expect.

They should have put endings that range from the "reapers wins and destroy everything/everyone" to the disneyland ending "Happily Ever After", letting everyone decide which one to take. It wasnt that hard, and they knew people just wanted that... yet they did the opposite (and i wonder why)

Try to come up with a better ending for ME3. It's difficult.

There were actually threads about this in the spoiler section. At least half of the endings suggested (and thoroughly explained) were better than what Bioware pulled out of their hat. There is a huge difference between a sad/grey ending and a sad/grey ending that is satisfying. Pro hint : Ripping endings from older games (in our case Deus Ex) and altering/disguising them is not a good practice.

I guess I'm getting my pop corn ready, while preparing to watch the rage threads here in about a couple of weeks.

The three endings are so similar that you can't help but think that they plan on releasing Mass Effect the MMO. As if they haven't learned anything from TOR or DA2.

I am still going to make my own judgement on the endings that Bioware has written, whether or not they are what I imagine we will soon see. However, I myself don't expect a "happily ever after" type of ending, if I get one, great, if not, well it's what I would expect.

The ME1 ending was ok, the ME2 ending was laughable but in the end ok, the ending wasn't what made me enjoy the games everything else leading up to the ending was what I enjoyed. As long as the ME3 ending doesn't end up like IDs RAGE ending I'll be happy... now that was a truely bad ending.

Well, I succumbed and looked it up - only the vague-ish descriptions and not videos. Some of what I've heard sounds fine, some of it is depressing me although it hasn't quite stooped to my worst fears.

The endings are derivative and convoluted. They also openly contradict everything you know about Mass Effect and not in a "well that's an interesting twist" kind of way. The framing device used at the very end is highly unsuitable and I have no idea why BioWare crammed it in.

If you're the kind of person who enjoys getting invested in the lore you will absolutely hate it. If you're the kind of person who only cares about things exploding you probably won't be bothered overmuch.

Another thing that's annoying is all that stuff they were going on about back when the first game was in development about choices in the game having major effects in the 3rd game have just been ejected into space.

I mean, when I saw how pathetic the whole choice and consequence thing worked from ME1 to ME2, I was like... well hopefully they'll fix this in the third game. But nope

Yep I agree about Rage, but it seemed like it ended that way to maybe lead to Rage 2 or some type of DLC.
Unlike ME3 which will end Shepard's part. This is why I think ppl say its a bad ending, its got to end somehow so that the next ME game has total nothing to do with Shepard or anyone in these 3 games.

At least in ME2 your choices/actions decided who lives or die, nothing was forced. You could have even saved the normandy crew with a perfect timing on last mission

all mass effect games have the similar ending structure, just a few choices at the end. I really do not see nothing wrong with it unless you do not like ME1 and ME2.
