Making that the canon ending would have really helped out KotOR 2.

It was the best ending but it was also the most specific. Requirements...

Female
Romanced Carth
Join Bastila
Don't kill Carth

I thought Carth always ran away?

But yeah, I never would have seen that since IIRC I didn't play any DS females.

Yeah, Carth runs away right after you go dark side (you can kill Mission for some sick reason). But after you kill Malak and Carth shows up you have the option to kill Carth instead of killing Bastila.

Force persuading Zaalbar to kill Mission always left my stomach in a sick knot. That's up there with Jade Empire's Closed Fist Ending in terms of heinous actions.

Star Wars has always been sickningly simple minded in morality.

Either you're a goody goody two shoes loves everyone light sider or a puppy kicking baby eating dark sider.

To be fair, you could execute someone pretty ruthlessly in ME1.

I want to know something.

Are people hating on the endings because bioware actually decided to give us a good ending (an ending where **** hits the fan and not everyone is happy ever after) or is it because the ending is actually poorly written or generic "everyone lived happy ever after and you had children with liara"?

Very poorly written-plot holes everywhere.
I can PM you why unless you don't want to get spoiled.

It's like DA II 2.0, it has no ending at all. I would have expected some real closure, for the end of a trilogy. I'm seriously disappointed by the ending I've seen on youtube.

Someone leaked the info to him. Oh, and your breakfast tomorrow...I really shouldn't say because it could be a spoiler.

I'm happy with the ending. I mean, what did everyone expect? We all knew from the beginning that there were going to be at least 2 endings: Kill the Reapers, or be wiped out. I don't know why there is such an uproar about this.

It goes much deeper than that.

I can't really tell you without spoiling it, but there is absolutely no good ending. No one is going to be happy ever after in the ending. Not just shepard and his LI, but no one in the known ME universe.

To make it a little more of a sad ending, it gives you a vague understanding of what really happened or the conclusion of the known ME universe.

It's a valid question. I won't answer it in too much detail (no spoilers after all).

The endings essentially disenfranchise replayablity for many fans. EA/Bioware has said "This is the end of Sherpards story". Which could imply alot of things. But many fans of ME1 & 2 (myself included) feel it went beyond that. It removed hope of the current establishment. Some of us feel so strongly about the endings that we do not even want to play ME1 & 2 anymore. That's what all the fuss is about.

Personally I feel angry because my entire circle of investment (financial, emotional, fantasy) in the ME franchise has been crushed at the moment. It's like finding out your house got robbed. There is no easy way to discribe it. :?

From what I do know of the endings, my problem isn't that all the endings are all sad, it's that you can't really choose the way in which they are sad. Certain major characters always die no matter what you do. Now I understand members of the cast always dying, but surely you should be able to have control over which ones buy it. From what I know, several specific characters die even if you get the best ending; even if they survive the ending, the epilogue arbitrarily steps in and kills certain people. That is not acceptable.

And from what I hear, no, the endings aren't all that satisfying either. The critics seem to like it; hopefully they're on to something. I'm also hoping there are as-of-yet undiscovered permutations of the endings that provide more closure.

Also, for people who are wondering what the endings are like but don't want spoilers, I think this analogy is appropriate; think of the worst parts of the endings of Halo 3 and Halo Reach rolled into one unavoidable unhappy ending. Plus the stuff I said above.

The bolded parts are sort of funny to me, considering that as far as I know, every ending leads to the main goal of the entire series.  Seems to me, while their might be some heartache involved the majority of people in the universe from named NPCs to the trillions of lives in the galaxy will be pretty happy with the way things end.

As long as the last mission has a final epic cut scene (Like ME2) , I think I will be satisfied.

I think i might just Ctrl+Alt+Del out of it and make something up myself.
After all, anything i made up is neither more nor less real than anything Bioware comes up with.

The critics will always give out amazing scores for big games. If they give out their own personal review, they would get flamed then fired.

I'm sure Mass Effect 3 will be a great game, but sometimes i get the feeling that some reviewers are bribed or blackmailed.
