No, the "romance" people and overzealous moderation are the main reasons nobody takes the BSN seriously.

At some points, especially on the second one, it's hard to take it seriously sometimes. Somewhere between salarians doing musical numbers and priiiizes, the immersion got lost.

Apparently Salarians can't have art?

Wow.

ME has always had some questionable parts that are hard to take seriously. It's not like it just started.

Perhaps.  Nothing like this though.  This is full-blown jumping the shark.

Not saying I approve of everything from this game. There are parts that don't make me too happy aswell.

This series is a game after all, how seriously can one take it in the first place? That aside though say what you want about the endings I think that new the universe of Mass Effect has the chance to grow deeper than before.

I could never take this series seriously since I can't even get a camera on my helmet to record reaper threats, when my cell phone, 200 years earlier could do so.

Even with that, it's unlikely they'd believe it.

Well the human reaper and the badly damaged ones should count for something should'nt they?

Yeah, I'm still considering whether I just headcanon the ending itself regarding "relays get f*cked and Nordmandy goes inbred colony" or the whole crucible plot line.

@Dave

That doesn't happen, however. That's headcanon you just spouted.

Still not sure what to make of these leaked endings. They have me... concerned but without the context of my own play through I'm reserving judgement.

Not really a great deal to make of them. I'm still wondering about the 7th ending whether or not it's real. But it only looks like 3 endings and a different cinematic for Earth.

In every ending I've seen the Joker bit onwards has played out the same way.

:sigh: no it DID NOT ruin the franchise

i can argue space magic was in alot of scfi tv shows one being farscape

Heh. Except for basically destroying the namesake of the series, the mass relays, in all but possibly one of the endings, and that's just a start.

how so? you do realize by destroying all relays the reapers cant come back right?

its explained in arrival and im suprised people didnt think of this at all

and no the name sake is not destroyed so just go away already

nobody has to go away, these kinds of discussion is EXACTLY why the boards are here. It's fine if you do not agree, but you have no right to ask anyone to stifle thier opinion.

"You have choice. More than you deserve." Except when it comes to endings.

I'm Commander Shepard and this is my favourite quote on youtube-

Considering the kind of stuff that goes on here the mods are pretty lax frankly i think the mods allow a bit too much.Image IPB

The helmet cam is ridiculous. Maybe Spectres can't have them? Maybe the Council didn't want the Alliance to know what Shepars was doing. Maybe the Alliance didn't want to know. It could be a security beach. If people knew everything the Spectres did...think everyone would be okay with their existence? C-SEC already hated Spectres.

I have found that anyone with a modicum of intelligence that tries to actually understand the game by use of the books, comics, and or games as well as the related codex has had no real issue understanding it. There are many threads with intelligent discussion that are less about how bad it supposedly is and more about but was it really necessary, and while it obviously was, at least they understand the story itself.

People come in here, see one thing, take it out of context, then assume tons of things, then argue and bicker about nothing.

---

Also Griffin, mass effect relates to the use of running an electrical current through element zero to achieve mass-less state.

Even when you fully understand the plot, you cannot get away from the fact that these endings are cliché, have bad reasoning and are shallow.

If you can prove you understand the Technological Singularity and how the series built up to that from the beginning through subtle plots meant to be uncovered by you, and then you can prove that you understand the over-arching plot itself, then I will listen to your counter points about how it is bad.

I've yet to see any reasonable counter points.

i never said that this plot wasnt hinted at, i know it was in ME1 to some extent, but in ME2 they seemed to drop that and the topic of dark energy came around instead.

The problem with the tech singularity is that there are so many other viable solutions to it other than the Reaper cycle, it makes the justification for it weak, and as a result of that the whole universe feels shallow.

Something like dark energy would have been more original and on a bigger scale, and it would make the choice to destroy the reapers harder, as they would actually be working for a problem which is to big for humanity to comprehend at this point in time.
