Yeah, I think the endings make me glad I'm not getting the game yet...they really kick you in the gut and not in a good way.

Wasn't the whole Shep/Garrus "romance" basically just experimentation between two beings that aren't even attracted to each other anyway?

It was kinda that in the beginning, but I'd argue that Shep wouldn't pursue it if she wasn't attracted to him at all. And by the end of ME2 it's clear that it's more than that. The dialogue I've heard from ME3 indicates that it's every bit as legitimate a relationship as the others were/are.

The Normandy gets stranded on a random planet at the end of the game no matter what. The crew supposedly starts a new colony which leads to an epilogue with a kid and his grandpa, supposedly the descendants of the colony. Given that the humans survived, it's very likely that Garrus and Tali couldn't eat anything, being dextro, and starved to death - or committed suicide first, I imagine.

Eh, they shut the gate pretty securely on things. The only way to head-cannon a happier ending is to choose the "best" ending and ensure you've kick as many of your favorite characters off the Normandy when and if you can.

Ugh, this seems like the most plausible 'happy' ending you could achieve for your crew.

Also, reading the Thane romance dialogue, I feel like I have to go back and create a tragic Shep so dying in the end will complete it.
