I have an issue where I successfully installed BDTS, but then it's not there when I open the game. Subsequent attempts to install the DLC lead to the "Installation cancelled" error. I tried the above fix and it simply said Installation failed. Trying to talk to EA has been useless and frustrating. Any ideas how to fix?

I recently did a system clean install and had to do fresh installs of ME1 (I have a digital EA/Origin version) along with Pinnacle Station and BDtS. First I installed the game, then Pinn.Sta. since they are both direct from the Origin client. Then I *thought* I had also installed BDtS. When I finally got around to booting the game and copying over my old saves, I realized neither of my DLCs were listed. So I tinkered a little bit to no avail and just decided to completely reinstall ME1 and the DLCs over again. After that they showed up fine and everything is playable. One of the first things I would recommend is that after uninstalling Mass Effect, make sure all of it's remaining folders in both Cocuments and C/Programsx86 are removed. Beforehand, I manually copy and paste my saves (and configuration just to be safe) in another location rather than letting the uninstaller save it. Also running CC cleaner or something to clean up the old registry files after uninstalling is a good thing.

When I try to enter a code it says 'installation cancelled'. Does anybody else have that problem?

Tederheids - Try this: Start the BDtS exe again, and when you get to the window that asks for the BDTS key code, (instead of entering the code) open Task Manager and kill the app. The installer will then either complete installing on its own or ask for the code again but in a different winodw than before. This other key window is the actual installer's key entry rather than the key code app that popped up the first time. Tell us if that works for you.

So I tried all listed keys here and they didn't work for me, then I got that same issue above and tried the same solution. After trying the solution I retried one of the keys again. BK2S-T7K7-NRZ3-NUK5-W7YL. And it worked. It said BDtS installed successfully into the game. I wonder if I imagined trying them all.

This app is what made it work for me in the end:

The task managing thing did not work for me. Thanks for your help any way. :)

Glad that app worked for you. Seems to have helped lots of others. I have it linked on the first page and it probably would be the next suggestion. Trying task manager is an easier first step ;)

Thank you jkthunder!

I have spent (Ireally don't know why I got so obsessed) the past 3 hours trying to find a fix to re-install my BDTS so I can replay Mass Effect!!
None of the fixes or registry edits or anything worked - then bam the first post on this page has a few extra CD keys and the first one I tries worked!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! :D

Just for reference the key that worked for me was: 7YVD-LCTT-CS7M-E9LM-YATC

Glad it worked. It's kind of funny that the generic code EA posted in their instructions don't always work, but some of the other older codes do still work.

I keep getting a failure error, or it cancels itself. I have an Origin download of ME1. I tried all the codes, and running as an administrator, and in compatibility mode. Any other ideas?

Do you mean an "Install failed" message? If so, try this: Run the BDtS exe (as admin of course), and when it gets to the point where it asks you to enter the key code, don't enter anything. Instead, open task manager (Ctrl+Alt+Del) and kill/end the BDtS program listed as running. After that, the BDtS installer should continue to run some install processes and will soon open another separate and different window that asks for the code. Enter the code here.

If that doesn't work for you, I recommend trying this workaround - http://social.biowar...index/1942301/1

Okay time to give credit where it's due. Thank you EA. Some of your actions lately are infuriating, but you guys know when to pull through sometimes.

I recently just re-installed ME 1 and noticed a DLC folder in the main game file.  The videos in the DLC file themselves when played are for BDtS the opening astroid scene.  Problem is when I play the game the system is not available in game.  I did not download the the DLC, I just noticed it in the re download from origin.  I am currently playing on PC and using windows Vista.  I am not sure if the file is in the right place or if I am supposed to do something to activate it.

Download BDtS by following the directions in the OP of this thread and you should hopefully be good to go. (See the successive posts for installation tips). The DLC folder you see just contains some set up files for the 2 DLCs, but doesn't have the whole thing. You actually have to download and install them.

I have the steam version of ME1 and when trying to run the BDtS installer I get this message.

Mass Effect is not found.

Please reinstall the game from the original source and try again.

WTF?

I have the Steam version too and had no probs with the BDtS installer. Did you try reinstalling the game like it said? If so same thing?

I'm still unable to download it. When I try to install normally, no matter what key, I type, I get the "Instal Canceled" message. If I do the Task Manager method, it starts installing as soon as I close the Key prompter but while it is "validating files" it stops and iget the message "Installation Failed".

I tried to download the app but the link only takes me to the homepage. The link initially contains the ending /fixdbts but it disappears and I go to the homepage. Do I need to sign up to that site to download?

Thanks for the help. When I started to install it and the window popped to enter the code it kept saying installed failed. I was running it as an administrator. When I went into the properties as the file it had a box on the bottum of the lil window that said that this had come from another computer and there was an unblock button to click. Clicked it and it installed fine. Again i am running it on Vista incase someone has issues like I did. Thanks again.

Glad to hear ezradimos and thanks for sharing.

Ranger - what version of the game do you have? (Steam, Origin/EA, retail disc, etc.). There may be an issue with finding the main game reg key (which is what that homebrew app is for). The links worked for me, so I'm not sure what's going on with that. Maybe try the directions to do it manually?

IIRC - I had a similar problem once and I resolved it by deleting the BDtS DLC folder in my C/Programs x86 (pretty sure it's the UNC folder) and tried installing it again with success. I have the Origin/EA digital version. Don't quote me on that because I don't remember if it was a problem with Pinnacle Station. The DLC folders are installed with the main game, and when you install the DLC it directs the content to those folders. Pretty sure if you get rid of the folder, it will create a new one for you... not 100% sure on if this will work or not. Worse case scenario you might have to reinstall ME1 and start anew.

I have the retail version. Only brought it a week ago.

Ok I could download the app now. I think my anti virus may have been blocking it but I'm not sure.

And it worked. I see the DLC in the options menu in the game. Thanks a lot, people.
