Well, I tried both of those codes and each time I do, I get the "this installation has been cancelled" message... nothing about the keys having hit their limit, it just literally auto-cancels the installation.
Any troubleshooting advice?
I have also tried this:
Some may be able to work around the cancelled installation issue by ending the BDtS install exe process in task manager (Ctrl + Alt + Delete) when you get to the point of entering the BDtS key. After killing the process, the installer should then continue and ask you for the key again in a different window (enter the key code in this window). After that the installation should complete itself.
And I get a "Installation has failed" message instead of a cancelled one. Really scratching my head here.
I am running Windows 7 and used a retail disc to install the game itself. Game works just fine, just can't seem to get the DLC to properly download and install.
EDIT: Ah, nevermind. Further searching revealed that my problem is Windows 7-related and that it requires mucking around with the system's registry keys in order to bypass the issue. I am just not computer-savvy enough to feel comfortable about this, especially understanding I could do serious damage to my system by making the attempt. I'm not gonna get greedy. I went into all this simply wanting to experience the first game (I'm a PS3 gamer, so never got the chance to) and I've been able to do that. I'll be happy with that and just pass on the DLC. Not worth the possible troubles it could bring.

Disgusted with this especially considering this was a free dlc.
Decided that my need to replay my own game was not worth the hassle
May an elcor excrete on you from space.
ME1 is uninstalled

Now I just have to get used to the different key actions vs me2 & me3.
Will see if I can reset ME1's key bindings, cause I don't adapt to quickly.

The failed installation of BDtS with "installation cancelled" message after attempting to enter the registration key also seems to preclude a new installation of the ME1 game, at least without tinkering with your system--maybe delete remaining ME1-related registry entries?
I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, Service Pack 1.
Someone earlier in the thread commended EA for having their act together on this issue. However, I think if they really had their act together then they would either release a version absent DRM, re-instate the original registration website for BDtS, or at the very least put BDtS as separate DLC on the much-disliked Origin. I was prompted to play BDtS when I realized that it had some small effect on the events in ME3 and it is a shame that EA's uncorrected decision to employ DRM is hamstringing the efforts of Mass Effect fans to be able to get the complete experience.

I think this may be the issue I am having. I also installed the game from a disc and have Windows 7. I finally got it to install, but it doesn't install correctly. If Windows 7 is the problem, I will simply have to do without the DLC. I also do not feel confortable with messing around with the systems registry keys. I am kind of annoyed with the "technical assistance" that I got from EA. It would have saved me a lot of trouble if one of them had known about the issue and simply told me about it. Instead they suggested that I uninstall Mass Effect. I had anough trouble getting Mass Effect to work the first time I installed the game, I wasn't about to go through that again.

I was having this problem too. Though I found a very easy work around. Rename the intall .exe file. I simply added a "_2" on the end and it installed first try using the most recent code in this topic.

Unbelievable, 1.5 to 2 hrs on chat with EA Tech support culminating in a suggestion that I should uninstall and then reinstall Mass Effect and the answer is a simple as renaming the file. Thank you for your help.
