Which phantom Attack is worse? Hand cannon or Stabby insta kill

I hate that blasted thing too, but its a love/hate relationship.  If I had it, I would teach those flippin' phantoms who's boss.

At first I thought the Mechs would prove the challenge but in reality the Phantoms became the first thing you want to shoot on sight because they came close way faster and there is no hope for revival. The only way to beat this enemy is cryo blast or a certain biotic attack to slow them, otherwise good luck aiming. Serously though why did you add a handcanon?

1. They're trying to.
2. The universe is big. And they have this whole humans-only thing going on.

As for the topic; the handcannon, without a doubt. Unless I'm playing Adept I always try to sprint away from Phantoms, to get in a good position to shoot them down. I've been denied too many times in my run because of that damned mind laser though.

I get killed more by the blade perhaps but the hand cannon is more annoying. You come in ready to wreck some stuff then all of a sudden she hits you with a couple of mind bullets and you have to hide again.

Their insta kill CAN happen if you are moving, it has happened to me before. I have never been insta killed when I was running though. So if you are just walking or moving slower than that you can still die in 1 hit.

I hate their ranged attack way more though.

The hand cannon. While it doesn't insta-kill you, on gold one person getting downed stops half the team from dealing out damage - this is a huge setback on later waves when four phantoms are roaming the map with nemesi (lawl) and plenty of support. The only time I ever get insta-killed is using medigel to get up and getting killed as soon as I stand up from the phantom I didn't notice.

I guess it really depends on your playstyle and difficulty setting - I play as an engineer on gold so it's not like I plan on going/staying in close range with phantoms.

The hand cannon on the other hand always destroys me. It always throws me off balance when playing my turian that one little sneaky beam can take down my shields insantly and health almost as quick. 


Stab is way worse because it can bypass your ability to be picked up by a team mate or even pick yourself up with medigel.  The gun on the other hand can't do this and on gold takes 3 hits to kill me as a human infiltrator... if I'm in the open long enough to let her get three hits on me I really have no excuse to complain.  Her hand cannon isn't accurate beyond short range and she won't even try to shoot beyond short to medium range.  If you're a turian I guess I could see why you might view it a little differently but either way the attack that can't instant kill + execute you and is almost as easy to avoid as her melee is the one I'd rather have used on me.

I kinda like the stabby instakill - a fitting punishment for letting them get too close.

depends on the difficulty, on gold i hate their handcannon, below that their insta gab attack cause the hand canon usually makes you aware off them while your bizzy whit something else.

Phantom sneaks up on shieldless vangaurd.
Vanguard tries to charge another enemies to save ass
vanguard rares back and begins charge
sees blue blurr fly forward
vanguard must have astral projection because hes impaled and never went anywhere.

Wait, just hear this.

There was this one game me and my friends played on the winter map. It was wave ten and at the beginning of the wave, our Adept punted a Phantom into space. Come what we thought was the end of the wave, we were trying to hunt down this Nemesis who was sniping us whenever we were outside.. Turns out, it was never a Nemesis, but that same Phantom we thought we'd spaced from all the way in the beginning. She somehow got lodged into structure at the top of the map that had just the right angle to snipe at just about anything that wandered outside the installation part of the map. We had to get our infiltrator to cloak, search for, then finally kill that last Phantom.

I shake my head at that so hard.

Hand cannon by far. She can pretty much take out your shields in 2 shots or less on gold and shes got some range on it too. The melee can be avoided easily if you just pay attention and use your dodge.

Stabby insta kill for me. You don't get a chance to be revived at all whereas with the pew pew bullets, you can take cover and recover your health+shields.

Hand cannon. Atleast with the Instant kill, I don't have to be tortured by them spamming the hand cannon. Just put me out of my misery Phantom! Just end the pain!

I have never logged in to my account to post ever. This post right here brought me out of lurking to post. I hate, I mean HATE CE's with a passion. When I play with my friends we all have an unwritten understanding. If anyone calls out a CE , EVERYONE is to stop what they are doing and jump that ****er.

But back on topic, I could care less about the melee kill. That damn cannon shot is always accurate and damaging.

Palm cannon gets me 90% of the time.

Wish there was a codex entry that explained what it was and why Shepard can't have one :(
