Can someone explain the ins and outs of how the death screen works in the OC?

I have had death screen headaches from the beginning in my latest module.  I simply want the death screen to appear when the whole party is dead.  That's it.  Nothing fancy.  Despite my best efforts, I still occasionally will have the whole party down and no death screen.  No big deal, you can still esc out of the game and reload  or quit but it looks sloppy and I don't want it to. 

Any advice from more experienced modders is welcomed most happily.

What module death script are you using?

I can't remember how I had set it up right now, but I think if you got the campaign script (k_mod_) from either the OC or MoTB it should have what you are looking for.

Check the on death script events in the OC (module property), that's where everything is handled.

I found the k_mod_ scripts pretty easy to work with - that is your way to go for sure.

Thank you so much. I'm assuming there are on death events for the PC and the companions, right? I'm going to look into that and see if I can patch things up.

Great! I just looked at the k_mod scripts and the gb_companion scripts for companion death and everything appears to be covered there. I only wish I had asked this question right at the beginning and not the end.

Ah well... such is life....

If you look at the module scripts I used for the OC Makeover and Harvest of Chaos:King's Festival+Queen's Harvest you'll find that they are based on both the OC and SoZ versions of the death scripts so that death behavior can be like the OC in easy mode or like SoZ in hard mode, or its behavior can be overridden with a 2da. I tried to maximize the flexibility since no matter what you do some people will want OC death pop-back-to-life behavior and some prefer the dead-until-resurrected behavior of SoZ.
