- More fluid combat (which doesn't mean more exaggerated highspeed combat), because after replaying origins combat saying it's pretty clunky is a valid critic point.

- Make it tactical combat rather then actiony combat, have more class/ability synergies where combining them can decide victory (similar to biotic detonations in ME or how you could create a tempest storm in DA:O or to some extent how it was in DA2, but the combos there were useless at least on hard enemies died most of the time before I could really apply them.)

- If it gets more tactical maybe trying to borrow pathfinding technology from strategy games might be good, because origins pathfinding was ok but it didn't feel great. (Besides aren't don't they have a team that works on a new C&C)

- Keep animation/balance grounded. I don't have a problem with it being more speedy but the animation in DA2 seemed so out of place after playing DA:O. Since DA:O really communicated this fantasy of being very grounded where your hero can't succeed alone and the whole party has to work together to defeat bands of enemies whereas in DA2 you're this all powerfull being who kills 10-15 trashmobs with 1-2 skills, that created a disconnect for me and made it really hard to immerse myself (and yeah knowing that might be because varric exaggerated during his story didn't help me to ignore this).

- This is important, now I also didn't like the graphics style of DA2. Although objectively speaking it looked better, I think? But what really irked me was the color palette and the way thinks were colored. It was way to bright and skin looked really weird in my opinion being so clean colored. But the major thing really was how dull Kirkwall looked, for the place where you spend most of your time in this seemed very unforgivable.
So maybe if you're sticking with the the DA 2 artstyle maybe refining it might be good.
I also really think that having a timeless artstyle for DA is a good fit and a really smart design decision.
That's something I feel many studios that don't quite succeed with emulating a Photorealistic style(due resources or what not) should explore.
Blizzard has been going this way for years and it did more than good.

- New Hero, I'm really not interested in Hawke and I'm ready to let go of my warden before the technical issues or the challenge to account for his deeds retcons him into oblivion. I think I read somewhere that DA:O wasn't made to be like a ME trilogy so I'd rather you guys don't bother trying to do it now. I mean despite the fact that I didn't enjoy DA2 nearly as much as DA:O I really appreciate that you've set the DA World into an interesting state. So maybe build these import features from DA3 onwards.

agreed with above also I 3rd playing as a seeker (perhaps a quanari seeker lol) possible SPOILER read no further, you've been warned, & its only speculation, but, I'd be surprised if it was nothing like I've mentioned below, includes possible final choice senarios. oooo oreos ;)

also agree with being able to switch sides a few times in the mage templar war, or at least not pick a side, and yeah... just ya know, kill some of both lol, make both sides scratch their tiny bald animated heads and go, wtf, didnt he just kill some of our enemys, now hes attacking us, but wait he killed some more of our enemy, geez this guy (the hero) may need to be attacked from both partys and then come to the realization that theres nothing they can do as this guy (the hero/villian) is just too much to handle, and have them bow down, o hell yeah. regardless, since I've suggested it, it doesnt matter what you do as its already happened in my head lol ;P

hmm, theres a good chance it'd kinda be like that huh, as your main is supposed to impact the outcome of the story greatly, so, why not beat both parties into submission (if you dont want to solely pick one side) and basically lay down the law, according to you ;) heh... 1 outcome being, you wipe them all out yourself (in the vicinity at least/villianious path) 2 have all circle towers restored and reinstated (good bad w/e, would depend on other choices you made throughout the journey) 3 set the mages free (good bad w/e again dependant on other options chosen throughout the game) I would maybe make a 4th and 5th possible outcome, such as, reverse the roles, templars imprisoned lol) 5 & 6 the total destruction of one of the orders...

I love being the "bad" guy, not evil (really) just bad, so yeah, I think if I could I'd wipe them both out and have my ending read, (insert hero name here) to this day, continues to hunt down and kill every mage and templar he sees, being a mage himself its his goal to be the only mage left in the land, even his ex/current companions aint safe lol, after the final battle they awoke as if from a dream and realized, this guys crazy, im a mage or a templer I better get the fluke outta here, and then on my companions ending written text, (insert companions name here) was hunted down and finally found by (villans name) and slaughtered, stealing their magic and adding it to his own lol ;P yeah something like that. :) only alot more text & better written of course, more details ect. and a cool bg pic possibly dipicting the event, I love the DA:O/A endings 100x more than DA2...

dang it, I hit F5 or something, ugh..

partly customizable beginings (hero/villan) endings (all except places and creatures, legendary weapons w/e) at the very end of the game, after the final bell tolls, I'd love the option to help decide every single one of my companions futures, as in, will my guy hunt them? if so, he wouldnt be hunting them alone if he managed to find a LI (DA2 impossible to do) will (insert companions name aka ICN here) do what they said they wanted to do, but only given that option if you happened to of heard it while in a previous convo with them, sounds more complicated than it is.. it also opens up for a wide varity of endings for everybody. yourself included. I wouldnt mind being asked at the end if I wanted to help influence the future of you and your companions and then continue to read what your great writers have written.

needless to say, but I will anyway, im in it for the interactive story (wonder when movies will be like that *shrugs*) ah well, g'night. *yawn* p.s great writers (jade empire, shadows of ahm, joe dever)

One thing I would very much like to see is a system that actually matches up with what a PC has done and said, for the approval system and in general situations.

In Origins, even if Alistair takes the throne on his own (and he very much can, I'm not interested in debating this point) without the Warden choosing the monarch, he still addresses the Warden as if they made him King. I've never figured out where this was just a bug or the devs actually overlooked the discrepancy in writing that scene. In any event, there are a few cases in Origins where this happens, that left me sitting at my computer going "wait, wait...?"

More to the point, however, is the poorly used approval system. In DA2, it is entirely possible to gain rivalry points with Anders while still playing as a pro-mage Hawke. But the rivalry system always and only recognizes that you have all that rivalry with him because you're a total jerk toward mages.

We know beyond doubt that in both games, character AI is capable of recognizing even minor dialogue choices and reacting to them in minor and major ways. So why on earth can't there be implemented an approval system that recognizes the actual decisions a player makes that lead to either rivalry or friendship without defaulting to two binary either/or assumptions?

Different origins. There is no rule that different origins can´t use the same voice actor (if there needs to be such). Unless we get to play with the Warden or Hawke again, of course (I hate loose ends).

here here, bravo, I couldnt of said it better myself.. (tho I still want to influence my partys moral allignment.. where the fudge is jade empire 2? grrr, not that part 1 was that great, I loved the story more than anything) tis why in most cases I play games on casual, cept in jade empire, it was easy even on hard.. had oodles of focus ;) & what can focus do, heal? wait I totally forgot lmao nm..

stop using the voice actor who plays carth SWKOTOR & soldier boi in Mass effect, its annoying.. dont think I heard him in DA tho.. thank goodness... (hope he aint in ME2, assuming I ever finish the first one, ugh, that citidal station is huge, but I got a 360 pad for pc coming so, maybe heh, so far, so eh)

i think DA3 should continue the story of hawke so it would follow on in a mass effect style for the game and we dont have to create a third protagonist then any friendships/rivalry's,relationships and dlc will mean something carrying over , yes i miss my warden but i think he should return a lot later in the series perhaps as the hero of DA4 ( don't act like you think it won't happen )

The DA2 conversation wheel has to go. Part of what makes Origins fun is learning how to judge your comments to suit the situation. In DA2 it's so... pathetic. There's no other word for it.

"Oh! I'm talking to a character I want Rivalry with! I'd better pick the Angry option!"
"Oh! I'd like to romance this character! I'll pick the Love-Heart option!"
"Oh, this is an NPC! I'll pick 'humourous' because otherwise the conversation will be boring as hell!"

RPGs are far more interesting when they're about people. Case in point, let's imagine my Rica Aeducan from Origins is an NPC for a moment. She's got the Dwarf Noble backstory, so you assume that she will disapprove if you side with Bhelen. So, you side with Harrowmont... and she gets mad at you!

Why is she mad? Because despite the fact Bhelen framed her and tried to have her killed, he is still her brother, and more importantly he is the last of her family line. Since she has no remaining brothers or sisters, and since she herself cannot be Queen of Orzammar, she needs Bhelen on the throne for the good of her family.

That is not something you can handle with DA2's pathetic dialog system.

The only thing it did right was to give us some choice as to what kind of person Hawke was; friendly, gruff or smart-mouthed. Thing is, this is something that should have been done at character creation in the way it is with Origins; if you pick a violent voice style, your character is always violent.

That might sound odd, but here's an idea of how it can work:
NPC: "Please spare me some coin, kind sir!"
Player chooses 'Give the beggar some coins'
Noble: *in a kind tone* "Here, I hope this will help."
Wrathful: *curtly.* "Here."
Wise: "Perhaps this will help you."
cocky: *flippantly* "well, it's not like I have anything better to do with my coin..."

Player refuses:
Noble: "I'm sorry, I have nothing to spare."
Wrathful: "Get a job!"
Wise: "I cannot help you, friend."
cocky: "Am I carrying a sign that says 'free sovereigns'? No? Well I guess you're out of luck then."

to the guy above, LOL love it... sounds about right too, in that instance, I would choose to have a cocky voice but eh, I tend to go with the voice I like... I would take it deeper still and be able to choose cocky and then the voice the cocky guy would have... thats mainly the only reason I pick voices in any kind of game, is how the voice actor sounds, if the cocky guy sounds like chit, whos gonna pick? not me, but thats not to say I wouldnt love those answers to be given heh XD

It should be aimed at the PC.
Just like Origin was. Just look at it.
DA2 was developed with consoles in mind.
Look how it turned out.
The tactical, thinking RPG became a buttonsmasher. Not a good thing. Not one bit.

Ooo Hawat I hear ya... good point, I mean the console version of dragon age origins and awakening turned out pretty good so why in the hell not focus it mostly for pc again, im sure any port would be good enough, heck I played through the console version multiple times, it was really pretty good.

DA2 I played it through once.. meh. once I finished I almost started over but nah. I do like the way the wizzards normal staff attacks look tho, much better than DAO

even on PC I would love to play DA3 with my 360 controller for windows.
