I'm sure this has been brought up-but screw it.  If it takes 10^6 posts for it to get through-so be it.

I have died playing around in MP more God Damn times because of the bloody "Cover/Dive/Run/whateverthe****" tied to a single button then any turret, atlas, or low level inept team mate ever has.

If just the run function was uncoupled from the rest of it it would probably be workable.  In single player? Sure I can live with it.  But if your serious about multiplayer-it must be reworked.  I know the real estate on a joypad is limited, but you can think of something.

That button is most certianly un-awesome in every respect.

There's really no excuse for the PC version. On the XBox, they just need to move revive and activate over to X and keep run, cover, and dive on A. It'd be perfect.

I agree about the PC version.  I have honestly not tried MP on my XBOX yet.

Happens to me too. When I go to revive someone I more often than not jump like a sissy around their corpses instead of reviving them because stupid space button is stupid, either that or I go into cover behind a wall or something. Conclusion: Saving someone's ass gets me killed :D most times.

Why don't you blame your teammates? T'was they that died close to cover after all... :P

Anyway, I agree. I've lost quite a few matches because of that, BioWare should let us configure controls IMO.

I always end up sticking to a walls while sprinting :( There have also been a few times I've died because my character decided to activate one of those hacking objectives instead of taking cover near it.

Agreed. Over half the time I die, it's because I took cover against a wall I didn't intend to.

...not to mention the countless times I end up taking cover while I'm actually trying to run somewhere quickly, ending up being too late to revive a teammate, losing time on an objective or plain-ole dead. Again.

Ugh. Seriously.

getting revived by teammate and he died in the process, tried to run away to get cover and shield ----> nah, let's try to revive him instead *facepalm*

trying to revive someone near a corner ---> nah, let's take some cover instead *facepalm*

trying to active an objective ---> nah, let's take cover instead *facepalm*

Yup, X button on Xbox would be stellar.

Definitely agree with the op. It was a problem in ME2, it's worse in ME3.

It would be best if they were separated.

But one does not simply walk into Mordor...

in the full game they said you could remove the auto cover feature, until we get the full multi-player game there is a great probability your removal of the auto cover feature carries over into that part of the game. If so problem solved.

Three buttons for the FPS junkies on Xbox live
Seven for the RPG-fanatics with their lack of tact
Nine for the 12 year olds doomed to die
One fo the Illusive Man smoking his crack
In the Land of Multiplayer where players cry
One button to rule them all, one Button to kill them,
One button to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
In the land of Multiplayer where the players cry.

Or something..........<_<

Happened to me too. Instead of reviving safely while cloaking, I went to cover instead. Not so much of an awesome button at that time lol

I tried the multi-key mod that was linked to from this thread and it was great. However, I'm a worried about getting banned for using a modded file so I don't think I'll use the mod in the full game. I hope an official patch will fix this annoying problem.

What's ridiculous is that a random person of the fanbase takes the effort to change it while there's been no response from BW whatsoever so far.

Whenever I'm near a cover and press space to use it, my character rolls instead.

This. So much this.

I wonder why no one at Bioware thought that having one button for cover, running, reviving teammates and interacting with objectives was a good idea?
The only thing that the cover button should share a task with is running.

Hopefully they'll realise how inconvinient it is and eventually patch an alternate control scheme in, assuming such a thing is possible.

That sounds perfect. Does anyone know if we can map powers in the full game?

These are such great alternatives, I hope they'll considering adding them.

I've played enough that I've adapted to deal with revive on A and I found that since I have it's not as onerous as it was at first. That said, I absolutely agree that the option to remap Res/Use > X should be offered. Another one I'd love to see is Sprint > Click L/R Thumbstick (with toggle available), while cover/shift is on A (X on PS3), allowing cover to be selected more easily. In addition, Smart(er) camera follow would be great too, or at least something like old-fashioned Z-targeting! Alas, probably not.

Yes this is immensely frustrating, especially on PC where there is a whole keyboard full of keys going unused.

Agreed, I can't stand it when I run to a player to revive them, only to take cover by the wall, or do a roll. I always think that the player thinks I'm being stupid because I'm just doing ninja moves around their dead body.
