Yes, after this games shenanigans...Never purchasing another Bioware game again.

Which is really funny, because Biowares only next game is the next modern C&C

I remember NWN was meant to be Bioware's downfall

I was to young when that game came out to care about forums but people hated on that game? it was one of my favorite when I was young.

If I recall, Bioware pretty much admitted that the single-player campaign was nothing more than a template for the multiplayer. As a recreation of the party-based DnD system, it was great online. As an exploration of interactive narrative, the SP was pretty weak.

Might be hard to believe, but these types of topics have been around for literally a decade.

I understand I am no longer in the middle of their demographic.
BioWare is a business, they are obliged to make money (ERTS).
I understand the quality games I've enjoyed in the past
... will come from other developers some point in the future.
It is the nature of the beast.
Don't mourn their success,
... rather know yourself,
... and keep your eyes open for the next game that targets your particular demographic 8)

Lol, after the ME3 sales figures come out, i kind of doubt it will be seen as "biowares downfall."

maybe for the so called "true fans" who want to pretend the past 5 years of gaming didn't happen.

personally i could care less whether x or y rpg element is in the game. all i care about is a fun, rewarding, and engaging gameplay experience, and hopefully ME3 provides that (i would be shocked if it didn't)

Oh, I wouldn't be surprised. I haven't been here that long, but I do remember the same stuff from around the time Mass Effect 2 was releasing. I find it comical. :wizard:

Let's see.

*snipped expletive*

I honestly don't see how people can get so offended at a game as not to buy it, even before it comes out. And i liked DA2 enough to beat it like six times lol

I realize the excitment, but easy on the expletives! May I suggest using something synonymous!

I apologize! I'll fix it lol

I'm cool with it - dems the rules though! Anyway, yeah, that is kinda ridiculous! I do wish people would ease up, but it is better to let out your frustrations. However, doing so beforehand, undeniably says one thing:

Your expections were too flipping high! So, it's probably one of those: "I'd better just cut my losses!" As you see, they're already expecting failure!

I know right? But then again, I guess that's how it goes with all games prior to release. People pick it apart and bring it down. And undoubtedly, they're experience will be less for having preconceived notions of dissapointment!

PS: Why are we shouting!?

Very doubtful. Mass Effect III will probably win GOTY. Will it deserve it? Against titles like AC3,GTA5,Diablo 3, MaxPayne3,......

Well, lets put it this way? Did ME2 deserve GOTY?

GOTY? *Stifles a laugh thinking about GTA V and BioShock: Infinite*

How can you people mention titles like AC3, Daiblo 3 and GTA5 and not see what's wrong with that.

<_< IF those games deserve it, ME 3 does.

BW has one thing in its favor. Look at the ME3 site. You will not encounter the term RPG there. Instead it is marketed as an action game with an interactive story. Look at EA's site under RPGs and you won't find ME3 there. Instead it is listed in the action game section. So, at least they don't have to worry about losing their RPG fans anymore, because they have switched their audience. :P

Another complaint i see a lot is about the kid at the start of the game and the "forced emotion" which amusingly is the opposite of ****ing about the DA2 demo where people said Hawke was showing no emotion to their sibling dying. So okay now we have a new game and Shepard reacting to a kid dying is just "too emotional" *rolls eyes* It doesnt matter what they do people will complain even if it contradicts their complaints about the previous game.

The problem really is their writing. There are ways to convey emotion without it feeling forced. They just don't have their middle ground. Either it's a problem with no emotion, as with Hawke who barely skimmed over their siblings lifeless corpse. Or it's so much it's shoved down the players throats, "You can't save me."

There are ways to naturally include emotion. Most people who played Half Life 2 felt a connection to Alyx Vance without ever responding verbally to her. Considering we've been with Shepard for three games it shouldn't be hard to pull this off.

I';m not sure what people wanted the kid to say., It's a little boy he's not going to start going all Shakespear all like "Oh woe ist thou! Ye shalt not be able to save thee from thy doom!"

Personally i think what they were going for is Shepard coming to the realisation that the situation he/she has been envisioning is even more hopeless than they ever imagined and from that one little boy they realise that they aren't going to be able to save everyone.

You say most people felt connected to Alyx in HL2..what about Garrus, or Liara, or Tali, or Wrex?  I mean what game has fostered better connection to characters than the ME games?

I'm not saying BW has the best writers on earth, but honestly what game has better writing?  Its pretty damn good for a videogame.  You can't pull a few lines arbitrarily and say "BW writing sux"

And Mass Effect and Dragon Age Origins and Jade Empire (Well they were right about that one it's terrible but somehow people now see it as a godly game)

ppl also wanted BGIII or another xpack or something like that. regardless these topics we've been seeing for months (including this one) is nothing new. people will always rage about missing features, the story, graphics animations, not being given a pony etc

quite a few criticism are very well written (imo) but 9/10 they are dwarfed by the flood of "BIOWARE Y U NO GIMME WHAT I WANT"

as I said yes ME3 will be Bioware's downfall just as CNC Generals and DA3 and ME4 5 6  9 and #567 will also be Bioware's downfall.

I swear every game that has any amount of "Hype" will be called out by people who see things negatively about it. I swear every game will have its "Sky is falling" people on the forums.

It just goes with the territory.

As for me, I can honestly say I've NEVER bought a game I haven't enjoyed or at least gotten $60 worth of fun out of.

Granted I also buy very few games now a days, and rent things i'm iffy on, but I can usually tell if I'll enjoy something or not. and I thoroughly enjoy ME, thus why I'm here.

If I dont enjoy a game I usually hardly ever bother to join the community.

One (or two) substandard games do not undo a long and established track-record of being one of the premier game developers in the sector. In the highly unlikely scenario that ME3 is not great, Bioware will take a financial and reputation hit, learn its lessons and move on. It won't be 'undone'. One bad Mario title won't bankrupt Nintendo, a poor Warcraft IV won't end Blizzard and so on... These are companies with solid and well-deserved reputations.
