It seems to be really crappy to me. Whenever I now watch some Reaer destroying ****, I am contemplating, is this good, is this wrong? The Reapers are our salvation. I am serious. If now such a war would break out, I would want to be on the reapers side.
Why does no one emotionally engage with the Reapers?

No you wouldn't. All it'd take is one husk or banshee coming at you and you would be booking it to seek the protection of every force opposing them.

Careful, I think he's indoctrinated.

But why? Seeing as "we" would get a new nation on the reapers side versus toal extinction, I would want to be melded into a super mind.

For **** sake, siding with the reapers is the only sane thing to do. Are they, in the real life, actually rigfht? It is a shame they end up beibg utterly destroyed.

Good luck with that,
i'll support your decision to join the reapers if your support my decision to put a thermal clip in your head when you do.

Come on baby(Don't fear the Reapers)Baby take my hand(Don't fear the Reapers) We'll be able to fly(Don't fear the Reapers) Baby they're our bros

I'm not sure, why don't I emotionally engage with my toaster?
Now imagine my emotionless toaster was chasing me around the house trying to kill me because some many years down the road, I might.......or might not be part of a species who might or might not create a machine, that might or might not grow sentient, and with that sentience, might or might not decide to kill every organic being in the universe.
There are a lot of might or might nots there, but there is one for sure, the Reapers are going to kill us.
Short version, I am going to protect you by killing you, your wife, your children and everyone you have ever known and loved, well thanks Mr. Salvation reaper
Now why doesn't anyone emotionally engage with the reapers?
Most the tech singularity thing is a sci-fi novel, not science or an inevitable end. It is fantasy not science. The silly part is that if that bit of fantasy disguised as science did happen to come true, what is the worst that could happen.............dunno the same thing as the Reapers mass distruction, except likely on a much small scale.
