Is that the kid in the beginning of the game, all of a sudden just comes out and turns out to be a synthetic that controls all of the reapers and lives on the citadel?
I can't even take how bad this ending is.
Really annoying part of the ending for me

No.. apparentely the super mega AI that is the citadel is also telepathic and sucks the image of that kid out of Shepards tortured dreams..
See s/he was deeply traumatized by that single unknown child dying...
You know.. 'cause s/he'd never experienced anything quite as tragic as that...

Thanks for the clarification. Either way, I can't stand how the Reapers are now made out to be something good.
