It meant that your relationship from the start was purely platonic, no matter if you were a guy or girl.
I'm worried with this over-obsession with romancable characters that EVERY character in EVERY Bioware game from now on will be romanceable, and there will be no "bromances" or strong female friendships because there will always be underlying sexual tension followed by awkwardness if they are turned down.
I think Thane is an absolute badass, but if he would be romanceable and try to hit on my Shepard or even imply he wanted more than friends it would kinda ruin it for me. Not because it'd be gay, but because it would ruin a potentially really cool platonic relationship by having to try to always turn every relationship into a romance.
I have friends that are gay, both men and women, All of the guys know I'm straight and comfortable with that, none of them have ever hit on me, I've never hit on my gay girlfriends. I have straight female friends I've never hit on either, not because I didn't find them attractive, but because our relationship worked great as friends, but neither of us could see it being more than that because of our personalities/interests/what we wanted from relationships. I think strong and lasting friendships are just as important to stories as romances, and should be given equal value when deciding character interactions. Why does everyone you meet have to try to sleep with you, this isn't some Harem Anime/Eroge, if you want to fulfill some sad fantasy then go watch/play one of those.
Also, just as a laugh, I'm curious how humanity has grown and expanded enough in 30 years to colonize as many planets as it has and grown as large as it has with such a high % of non-childbearing relationships going on, if the Normandy is any guage!

Man, you really should read your history, I was not aware the roman empire used pesticides, that's a new one on me, but why go back so far, 1800s, the only reason it's not well known is because it was kept hidden by those who saw it as blasphemy amongst other things.
I cannot believe you even cited chemical as the reason, that is absolute ignorance.
Diet has an effect on the hormonal system as well. Some ancient greeks ate much olive oil, and it is known to have antithyroid effects. some seeds have to create some mammalian toxins to protect themselves, olive seeds is one of them. I am not saying homosexuality can't be entirely social, cultural, or even be an individual choice. I am saying we are inundated by all sorts of environmental toxins which do negatively affect proper endocrine function, and one of the thousands of possible symptoms is altered sexual behavior, which itself is a complex interplay of many variables including of course choice and culture.

Nope. Certain Normandy crew are strictly homosexual, namely your new yeoman and the dropship pilot.

Lucky Mame brings up a valid point in my eyes. Same goes for the female characters. My concern is eventually every single character having the option to be a love interest for every main character. I kinda like that even though I thought Kasumi was hot, that she wasn't a LI for you in ME2, because she had issues with a recent love and had the hots for Jacob.

I would guess they made Ash stright because that seems to fit her personality more.

It's easy to be attracted to and trying to molest everyone around you if you're high on Coke all the time like he was too.

um.. wow. you guys are really turning the thread into gay racist thread. guys, the gay people has rights and they should not be judged because of their sexuality or what advances they made towards a person. i believe gay women and gay men as well other species that might be gay has rights and they cannot be judged for even smallest things. sure, i have alot of gay friends, but i am straight, so they have made many diffrent instances, for example, they did a pass at me sometimes, i just shrug on and keep going, because i am very mindful of others even their sexuality. few days ago, it happened to me when a gay ladies made a pass at me for being nice to them. sure, i'm nice guy so i'm very open minded. you could say i'm Paragon because i do many right things and being good guy.
Has to be trolling haha. The gay race now? Anyway ****s off topic, the logical answer been typed many times, not everyone is gay. The end. Also on the topic of turning people gay, it just does not happen. Sexual attraction doesent work that way, I have never been attracted to any man, just like im not attracted to female that do not have the features i look in a mate, both mentaly and visually. Unless the male is able to surgucaly turn into a women without these remain of terrible man voice, squared jaw, oh and not a fake looking vagina or still having a penis, its a no deal.
