stumbled across nwn and didnt really get into it. found a copy of kotor and was amazed. played jade empire and was again amazed. went back to nwn/nwn2 then went to kotor 2, mass effect and dragon age. loved bioware until mass effect 2. hated bioware after dragon age 2. had hope again during tor beta. lost all hope after tor release. bought mass effect 3 for the hell of it.
Tell us your BioWare history! How did it start, and when will it end?

I actually started with Mass Effect 2. It with an Xbox 360 S bundle I got on Black Friday (hectic) and after doing the prologue mission I was hooked. After beating the game I was going to beat it again with the same Shep but then my second disc got "laser burned" and my Xbox for some reason started to not play ME2 and later all of my other games. I didn't get it fixed until December and I didn't get another copy of ME2 until early February. My friend let me borrow his ME1 last year November because I wanted to make my own Shep (and later 2 more) and I kind of like ME1 more than ME2 story wise but combat wasn't that bad, it just aged. I preorder the N7 CE in December (my first PO and CE) and I can't wait any longer! I'm not sure when I will stop with BioWare as I only played the ME games.

Been onboard since BG, going on with BG2, Neverwinter Nights, KOTOR (also the second, even though that wasnt bioware), Icewind Dale games (dont know if bioware did those as well?), Jade Empire, which was great and would love this franchise to be rebooted, Mass Effect 1+2 + the IOS game, DA:O + 2 + DA: Journeys + DA: Legends and most recently SWTOR.
Phew, quite a mouthful

Started with Baldur's Gate back in 1998 still have it on the shelf here too. Wont end until they stop making games I like. Every dev will make a game I dont like or find various faults with, DA2 for me and I cant comment on sonic. But that is two games out of nineteen (counting ex packs) So Bio are winning so far.... I own every Bio title save three Shattered Steel, DA2 and Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood

Baldurs gate 2, mostly everything afterwards and before except shattered steel/sonic like most people. When BG1 came out i was too young to own a pc - probably end with mass effect 3 with the way there going ending shepherds story...honestly charging for better endings? Yeh id like to have seen that happen with Kotor or BG.

My first BW game was Baldurs Gate and I have to admit, I wasn't that impressed. First of all, I wasn't familiar with the D&D universe (played the German The Dark Eye as P&P) and secondly, the German voice over was just horrible.
So I passed on BG2 and NWN. My next BW title was KotOR and that one really flashed me. One hell of a game.
Played every BW game since. I picked up Jade Empire for 10 bucks as a budged title because it slipped by me when it was new. Had I known how great that game is, I certainly would have picked it up on release date (PC of course).
I also went back and played through the BG series and NWN (in English this time).
Dragon Age Origins was a blast and Dragon Age 2 my first real disappointment from BW. I pre-ordered it, didn't want to believe all the critics that tore it apart before release already but it turned out it really had too many flaws to be entirely enjoyable. Getting through it felt like a chore to me.
But the best BW games are still the Mass Effect games. No comparison to anything else in the world of entertainment IMO. I hope ME3 can carry the torch but from the little I know so far, I am confident it will.
So yeah, I played pretty much all of their games apart from MDK and Shattered Steel ... oh and TOR of course, I gave the beta a try but I just hate MMOs.
Oh btw, I am one of those who doesn't mind that BW seems to go from turn based indirect combat to a more direct approach. I think for the kind of narrative they usually try to pull off, direct controls are much more immerse. you can still be tactical about it and have a pause function like ME but I for one am always glad when they let us be in the action rather then just observe it.

Started wir Baldurs Gate and it will probably end with ME3. (I want to know how the trilogy ends, regardless how "bad" or not it may be)
No interest beyond ME3 to shell out money for another EA game at the moment - sad, but true.

Used to play BG1 (and Icewind Dale) at my friends place - quickly got my hands on BG2 after my parents got a computer that could actually run it, played that for about 2 years non-stop, then I moved on to KOTOR and back in... 2009(? I think) I bought ME1 when I was holidaying in Britain, then it was just a short wait for ME2. Only played Dragon Age rather recently because it didn't exactly appeal to me at first, but I've had a lot of fun with it despite it being the most generic world ever. Played through DA2 which made the world/characters/story interesting - still quite flawed, but more enjoyable for me than DA:O.
Pretty damn excited for ME3 now. Haven't really been on board with the comics/books/ME:Galaxy because I'm generally just not interested in the tie-in stuff in those formats, but Infiltrator looks like solid fun.
I honestly can't see where a lot of criticism of Bioware recently comes from. Between these guys, Obsidian, Bethesda and CDProjekt, I have all the WRPGing I could hope for and I've never not had fun with their games. None of which are perfect, of course, but what is?

I got a new PC and I was looking for some games and I after reading reviews, found NWN. I wasn't really impressed with it. My second Bioware game was KotOR. I also found it after reading reviews.
After that, I played other games and when looking for recommendations, people always mention the Baldur's Gate series. In 2007, while visiting a local retailer, I was able to find the 4-in-1 boxset of Baldur's Gate and bought it since it was cheap. At first I was not so sure if I was going to like it because the graphics are old but after playing it, I loved it more than other newer games that I had played before that.
When ME1 was announced, I was really looking forward getting it but did not buy it when it first came out because of the restrictive DRM. I took a break from gaming around that time.
In early 2011, I re-installed the BG series and replayed it. After finishing it, I was again hungry for new games. ME1 and 2 were already cheap so I bought them after reading reviews. ME3 will probably be my last Bioware game.

Started with Baldur's Gate 1- and I didn't like it. Found it tedious to play because of poor path finding and characters getting in each other's way, and the numerous areas with no specific content besides random encounters got me to lose interest. I though the game had potential though.
....which is probably why I eventually relented and bought BG2, maybe a year after it came out. And I was blown away!
BG2 fixed every complaint I had with BG1, and though the pathfinding was still sub-optimal, everything else in the game went well above and beyond every expectation.
After that, bought NWN, NWN2 (though I know this had more to do with Obsidian than Bioware), KotOR, and the game that I feel got closest to BG2 quality, DA:O. Got into mass effect a little late, but bought mass effect and ME2 and loved them. DA2 was a definite step down from DA:O, and felt rushed, though I still liked the game.
I've played enough games though to know that you can't expect every game to come from a developer to be of equal quality, especially with Bioware when they set the standard so high so early with BG2. The important thing is to learn from mistakes made.
Now I'm eagerly awaiting ME3, and unless Bioware do something major to take them into a direction that's not for me, I expect I'll be their customer into the foreseeable future.

Started with Knights of the Old Republic on Xbox. Being a Star Wars fan and RPG fan (mostly of the Japanese variety) I couldn't pass that game up. Learning that it took place in the thousands of years before the Star Wars films intrigued me even more. I loved that game immediately. Everything about it was an engrossing experience, from the music to the conversations to the authentic presentation, it felt like I was playing a key role in a Star Wars movie. And then the twist... holy crap, what a twist! This was at a time when the prequel films were actively disappointing the fanbase, so it was quite a breath of fresh air to be involved in something Star Wars-y that did not suck.
Then my girlfriend introduced me to Neverwinter Nights. I immediately picked up on the similarities between KoTOR and that game and eased into playing it without a difficulty. However, unlike KoTOR I felt like the presentation was hideous and the voice acting, where it was present, was hilariously bad. The high-strung male bard voice is still an object of ridicule between my friends to this day. That said, while I enjoyed the game I never finished it. I blame this entirely on my save file becoming corrupted (computer switching, plus an assload of mods I can no longer find) and the bad frame rate tiring me out (let's just say Intel chipsets are not meant for games more complex than Minesweeper).
I sort of let Bioware slip under my radar after that. I heard of Jade Empire and really wanted to play it, but then my Xbox's power supply perished and that was the end of that. Got an Xbox 360 in 2006 and got swept up into the Halo 3 mania.
Then my brother, being the game press junkie that he is, alerted me to the existence of Mass Effect. I looked into the game and my mind was absolutely exploded at what it saw. A TALKING PROTAGONIST. How could this be? But then I let it go for a bit as I got engulfed by Halo 3; then I just rented Mass Effect one night when my gold service was down and... well, let's just say I didn't get a lot of sleep for the next week or so.
Having had a very satisfying time with ME, I looked eagerly forward to Mass Effect 2. Like ME, I didn't get a lot of sleep that week. I played ME2 until I had no more side items to occupy me and I made it through the game with only Legion having taken a rocket to the face. However this saddened me and I replayed the suicide mission, only to come out completely victorious this time. That was truly satisfying, but there were a lot of things about ME2 that, while not ruining the experience for me, bothered me along the way. The limited armory, the fewer powers, the way that main missions were pushed on you by TIM...
I took a break from Mass Effect to catch up on Dragon Age: Origins. The resemblance of the system to the previous NWN and KoTOR allowed me to get into the game easily, and the fantastic presentation easily engrossed me into the world of Ferelden, and since I'm a huge LotR fan I didn't mind the parallels at all. I loved DA:O but it was truly exhausting game to play. Finishing it all felt like a huge accomplishment, and its dungeons--love or hate--are truly legendary.
For enjoying Dragon Age: Origins I found myself looking forward to Dragon Age 2, which was announced soon after I picked up DA:O. I was worried from the start because I, like many others, liked the way combat unfolded. Not because it was old school or classic but because it worked, it was easy to control from a tactical standpoint, etc. Hearing that Bioware wanted to move more towards an action-RPG system made me frown because I didn't think that all games necessarily had to have twitchy uber-visceral combat to them. While DA2's system offers its own thrills, I couldn't help feeling like something had been lost. It felt too chaotic, too uncontrollable, and overwhelmingly idiotic. It's like, "I could plot my attacks, but why bother? I'm just gonna get flanked by another group that spawns from the direction I just came from!" That was more a problem with the way encounters were designed though, which, Bioware, you should be deeply ashamed about. Almost as ashamed of as you should be about the copypasted dungeons and utterly lifeless, static, neverchanging Kirkwall. Hell the sun is to the north in Lowtown. THE NORTH. Such an oversight is inexcusable really. For all its flaws and shortcomings, I could forgive DA2 because its characters were very lively and the way relationships intertwined was very interesting, definitely unlike in any game I had ever played before. DA2's cast is one I love just for all the quirks they come with, and Varric must be the most interesting dwarf character ever if only because he breaks so many stereotypes while still being a convincing dwarf.
That said, I still haven't finished DA2.
Now we come to this: ME3. I doubt I will be disappointed by the gameplay or the story itself, as it seems absolutely superb in spite of all the whining going on in the other forum. But I'm worried that there will be small things that mar the experience for me. Bugs, excised features, so on. I suppose we'll see on Zero Hour. As for my relationship with Bioware? It's likely that I'll stick with them for a long time to come. For all the hate and criticism the fanbase levels at them, and for all the missteps I feel they've made, I can't deny that Bioware writes some of the most compelling characters in the market.

I missed out on the BG series because I just graduated from college and decided to invest in a PS console instead of upgrading my computer. It wasn't until 2004 that I upgraded my computer and started looking at PC games and KoTOR was one of my first games I played on it. It was worth a couple of playthroughs but nothing spetacular. I played Origins in 2010 on a console and was blown away and played it for like six weeks straight with about four or five different Origin stories. Bought Awakenings and wasn't dissappointed and thought importing a character to another sequel to be the best experince I have had in gaming so I purposely bought an Xbox for playing ME1 and 2 and loved it. DA2 was disappointing and I don't plan on getting DAIII. I am very excited about ME3 coming out tomorrow. I did by the BG series with all its extra content, but the gameplay is so archaic that I just can't get into it. I guess with the rumours of BGIII coming out, that will be my next game from Bioware (providing those rumors are true).

I was first introduced to Bioware through Jade Empire. I'm pretty sure it was my first RPG outside of the Square/JRPG sphere. Though it was pretty predictable with the twist and all, I had a blast.
KOTOR really solidified my love for Bioware since it basically combined my two favorite things: RPGs and Star Wars. I've pretty much played every game they've released since then. Loved Dragon Age (yes, even 2), and I'm thoroughly enjoying SWTOR though I've taken a break due to mid-terms and preparing for ME3.
Like some people have already said, I'm going to keep paying for Bioware's games as long as they make them/I like them. Sure, there are some things that I wish that they had done differently, but, overall, I'm one satisfied gamer.

Picked up KOTOR (pc) on a whim because I wanted a game to keep me busy during my free time one summer (I already liked Star Wars and saw the "Game of the Year" sticker on it, read the back of the box, and never looked back).
KOTOR is probably my favorite rpg but at the time I cared more about the game than it's developer so I payed no attention to the fact that bioware made it.
I saw mass effect on sale on steam for 6 bucks one day and asked a friend if it was good, they told me it was amazing so I bought it but couldn't play because of some fps bug you get while having x-fire online (didn't realize at the time that that was the issue) and uninstalled for about a year. I bought Jade Empire at around the same time and beat that really quickly but never went back to play it, although recently I've been thinking about it more and more and am tempted to reinstall.
Bought DA:O in the meantime because the gamespot review tempted me (once again didn't really care/notice that it was bioware) and then DA:O's EA login made me realize kotor mass effect and dragon age all came from the same company so I registered on the forums, re-installed Mass Effect and right when I finished it, mass effect 2 came out so I got the collectors edition on steam instantly.
Been following since, got SW:TOR but the ME hype has kind of killed that game for me at least momentarily although the story interests me enough that I know I'll go back to it (not to mention I'm paying a sub so I'll be damned if I don't get some hours off that money). I also got DA:2 but I'd really like to forget that ever happened, the characters were really amazing and for some reason I got really attached to Bethany but the game went downhill once I couldn't use her anymore and the repeated maps, terrible paratrooper waves of enemies, and the complete grind of a combat (Arishok fight, kite kite attack kite kite health kite kite attack etc..) ruined it for me. I beat it once and never replayed through, in fact it's uninstalled.
and now ME3, which I am extremely excited for even if the supposed bad endings are kind of getting me worried.
If they botch me3 to the point of da2 I'm not sure if I'll buy another bioware game, especially since I haven't played the baldurs gates (even though I have them) so a BG3 doesn't exactly pique my interest but I have faith this game will still come out very strong.

I started with Baldur's Gate + Exp, than i played BG2 + Exp and i loved it (still my favourite RPG), Icewind Dale, Icewind Dale 2, Neverwinter Nights, Dragon Age Origins + Awakening, Mass Effect, and Mass Effect 2. Now i can't wait for Mass Effect 3 (I'm italian, so i will have to wait till march, 9 ç_ç). I never played Dragon Age 2, because from what i heard and what i saw on the trailers it didn't impress me at all.
So my history with Bioware is pretty long ^^. When will it end? Well, i think when they stop making great games.

Mass Effect -> Dragon Age -> Kotor (thank you Steam!) -> Mass Effect 2 -> Dragon Age 2
My favourites are Mass Effect and Kotor. Dragon Age III could be the first game from Bioware since Mass Effect that I don't buy at launch.

I started with Bioware at Baldurs Gate and I'll end when and if they ever do. Otherwise i'll keep on going.

KOTOR, but I'm very curious as to BW's next game/series (the real BW, not some EA-labelled BW studio). This is when you know you're a silly fan: you want to know the next-next game even before the next game comes out!

Started with Kotor right, NWN is indeed a Bioware game. However, despite encountering NWN before Kotor, I didn't go past act 2 until much later, when Kotor was in the past. Will likely end with ME3, although, I might replay Kotor a few times in undetermined future and give BG2 another, probably unsuccessful try or 2.

Since the beginning, pretty much ended with Dragon Age 2, if the rest of the story in 3 is as.. "interesting" as the ending to it, that may just put the nail in the coffin.

Started with Baldur's Gate. I'd become interested in games on PC after starting out with consoles through my younger years. Was 14 when Baldur's Gate came out and my Dad had bought it since he loved RPG's and i watched him play it a couple of times. When he was done he showed me how to play and i played it and enjoyed it. I played the sequal and loved it more it was much more user friendly and way less clunky than the original. And i just went from there. Bioware grew and changed a lot and so did i but i enjoyed their games for the most part.
Even Dragon Age 2 had things i liked even though there were things i did not like the lack of any real choice i thought the character stories were well thought out and intergrated with the main plotlines and i liked how characters felt more alive and interacted with each other better. And they seem to have used these ideas for Mass Effect 3 so that will be cool. I hated the old school pokeball feel of party members who don't interact until you let them out and just stand in the same spot waiting for you until you do.
The games from Bioware i didn't enjoy were NWN which was really not a single player experience and Jade Empire which has so much wrong with it i don't even know where to start. The characters are dumb and juvinile the plot is silly and contradicts itself at every corner, The skill trees are annoying and offer zero development in the level up system, The combat is clunky and unenjoyable (Yes that counts in an RPG especially if you need to fight to level up) The dialogue is horrible etc etc i could write an essay on what is wrong with that game XD
But even after playing that i never through "OMG RUINED FOREVER U SUCK BIOWARE! PRE ORDER CANCELED!" Because there was so much better to come just a couple of years later.
