Did they really remove a lot of dialogue choices from you, or is it just more fan rage hyperbole?

This is really the only thing that concerns me, because I'm hearing divergent reports on it. I've seen the demo, I've watched videos on it, but I've never really seen conclusively whether they really stripped a lot of dialogue out or not. I did notice a lot of times in vids Shepard would speak without input, but it seemed like it was a lot of stuff that was self-evident. "Joker get us out of here." "Good idea, let's do it." "we need to move." etc.

So how much dialogue options have actually been removed? Are neutral options gone? Do you only occasionally get to choose a dialogue option? Are intimidate and charm options removed? How about investigate?

I did notice that in the video from the guy doing the LP but I just figured he was playing on one of the stupid modes other than RPG...but now I'm kinda concerned

I watched the first 7 hours of the game.

It's two options for almost everything except maybe one choice in an hour. Also there are many times where Shepard decides something without any player input (like letting EDI stay in her body).

During the first 7 hours of so there was 1 time where there were red and blue choices. Not joking.

Also squad members only have Zaeed or Kasumi style dialogue after you talk to them a few times. (No actual convos just press A and they say something)

Maybe there will be more later.

ugh at all the stuff but I'm sure the character interactions are just a more streamlined way of having them not talk to you unless it's something important without having to go through all the whole "can we talk" "sorry shep there's a lot of work to be done" thing.

You know, for me, with Bioware games, the dialogue options were always one major part of the gameplay. Yes, there was the fighting etc, but story and dialogue was the reason I preordered every Bioware game.

Heck, I am not part of their target group at all anymore, am I? :(

If you give a fan dialogue that doesn't involve dialogue wheels, they can think of 3 variations and say it should be inside a dialogue wheel for choice.

A lot of it is self-evident and then there are the times where it felt like a choice would have been nice as some conversations can go with little to no input from the player at all.

Overall I feel it won't have much of an impact on those who don't nitpick things/overract to things like this.

Sadly, no.

Isn't it the case that most of the actions/dialogue is automatic because you made the decisions in ME1 and 2? Letting EDI stay in her body might have to do with shepards stance on AI during different missions/conversations with EDI in ME2.

Just a thought...

Could it be that it was due to not importing your save?
I haven't read anything about it so I guess that not importing your save could lead to more auto dialogue for new players.

No it's due to developers decision to focus more on combat and cut out the time consuming dialogues, plotlines and character devolpment...

Streamer was playing with a full import save.

Started at lvl.30 and cameos pop up from things like Overlord dlc.

The game was hiliarious though but not on purpose. Just at how bad and melodramtic it is.

Bioware stood for quality. I knew that a Bioware game would be great when it was released. Then something happened. EA stepped in and instead of making the core audience happy, EA wanted a mass market appeal for the games. Dragon Age 2 is great example.

Dragon Age origins story is the greatest game story I have played. I played it 8.5 times, The only game that I have bought on all platforms just to have an excuse to play it again. Then DA2 came and killed the DA universe.

ME3 is another step in Biowares fall from greatness. The days from guaranteed pre order to waiting until the game is reviewed is here.

ME 1 great story. RPG.
ME 2 no story. Great combat. Its a fun game, but there is no story.
ME 3 ? Haven't played it enough, but this is not promising.

The dialogue is bad. IT's beyond bad. The fact is most the conversastions are done to shorten them up so that the Combat mode can have them as cutscenes.
You don't get much for conversations any more and input into how they play out. It sucks because that's what I buy ME for.

There's a bit of hyperbole, but with most nerdrage there's a bit of truth.

Absolute fact: They cheated us on choice when compared to Mass Effect 1 or 2. Mass Effect 2 was pretty abysmal with its ending, but they "improved" it this time through.

Imagine this game's ending as one fairly-sized paragraph on crisp A4 paper.

Depending on your assets, you might get an extra sentence. Your decision with the star-child changes a different sentence.

That's it! Nothing else matters.

The truly horrifying thing is it will probably work.
The open multiplayer demo on origin will draw in a lot of new people who have never played ME before.
And that is the reason for the diminished conversations and the oversexualized characters and the expanded combat and the inexplicable plot twists...
To draw in new players while just shrugging off loyal fans.
And it WILL work because someone coming into this game and not having played the previous ones will have no expectations.

They will see the few interactions that are there as a lot deeper and more engaging than most action games.
They will see cool character designs and not know what they used to be.
They will see a huge war and super special effect ending and now care about the build up.

They will get a lot of people who will love beacuse they do not know what the game could have been.

I have also watched first 3-4 hours of gameplay, he was import his own Shepard, and when you are doing so game is set as Role-Playing, rumors are true sadly :(

You don't anymore fell it is YOUR SHEPARD story, rather that it is DEFAULT SHEPARD story, no matter if you import, you fell disconnected from a character, because he is saying things in auto dialogue that your Shepard would never said, so you loose that thing where it is yours personal story

They have seriously f..k this game up, it just for various reasons fells like it is not connected with previous 2 games

importing makes it default rpg mode, so yeah its not action or story its the real deal.
