Shepard belongs to Bioware now.
He always did, you are just realizing this now.
Oh and OP,
Its because BioWare doesn't write renegades as killing people for fun, you just think its fun. You in fact are the messed up one, not Shepard.

Nothing about that prohibits him from feeling emotion, or having a breaking point.

I actually been thinking about that for a bit myself OP. I mean, someone who will do anything to complete the mission even killing innocents would care about one child's death... And even then, why just the one? The Reapers are attacking earth so they would be more then one child that has died during the Reaper's invasion of earth.
The artbook clearly specifies why "that one."
He embodies all of humanity. He's not upset about the the loss of that one child, but the guilt over being unable to stop the invasion in the first place, and feeling the pressures of the entire galaxy on his shoulders.
He's crumbling, and falling prey to his emotions.
Believe it or not, even the most hardened soldiers are still people, still feel, still care.
Unless your one of those types that believe things like PTSD aren't real.

Please cite one example in any game where Shepard either:
1) Kills an innocent person.
2) Says after killing a person that he did it for fun.
You can't. He doesn't kill for fun. Even in his most hardcore ruthless guy-through-window moments, he never becomes a sociopath.

Agreed. Shep is a soldier, and he wants to prevent the Reapers from destroying the Galaxy. He's portrayed and emoted by a specific actor. If anyone thought he's a blank slate that the player shapes in his/her image, he's misinterpreting the level of control he gets.MelfinaofOutlawStar wrote...

On Noveria you can get the investigator killed then lie about it then walk out like nothing happened.

You want absolute freedom in creating a character? Play PnP. You want an engrossing story and deep character interactions delivered through gigs of recorded and voice-directed dialogue? Deal with limitations. I swear, people think devs just pull games out of a wishing well..Xayoz wrote...

They lied. The same way every add on TV is a lie, to some extent. I still buy my favorite yogurt , even if it's not gonna make me shed 20 pounds. You choose whether you buy the product or not. Do your research and decide.MythicLegands wrote...
