Which stage of grief are you currently in?

 Regarding ME3's less-than-stellar ending.

First!  Some background, in case you aren't familiar with the five stages of grief!

Stage 1:  Denial
tinyurl.com/87gjfu3
"LOL get out of town, Bioware would never do this!  Obvious troll is obvious."

You don't want to believe what you're hearing, so you try to convince yourself that what you're hearing is bullcrap.  Eventually, of course, you begin to second guess yourself.  As the details become more vivid, this stage quickly morphs into:

Stage 2:  Anger
tinyurl.com/77gnzz9
"OH MY GOD THEY DID DO IT, FUUUUUUUUUUU--"

Outraged and betrayed, you curse the Gods for your misfortune.  Depending on the circumstance, chairs may be broken and a new monitor may be necessary.  Once the rage subsides, you realize your anger has changed nothing.  You quickly change your strategy to:

Stage 3:  Bargaining
tinyurl.com/79xtdw8
"Please sweet baby James, let there be an alternate ending DLC.  If we're lucky, maybe it will even be made canon!!  Please Bioware, I'll pay you."

You quell your anger enough to beg the Gods you were cursing mere minutes ago for a more agreeable solution.  You wait and you wait, and nothing happens.  With your prayers unanswered, you fall into a state of catatonic _____:

Stage 4:  Depression
tinyurl.com/7x8azsr
"They're not listening.  Sweet baby James has forsaken me.  Bioware has forsaken me.  Why did Sovereign need to interface with Citadel directly if Guardian lives there?!  ARGH!  They don't even care what their egregious plot holes and terrible plot devices are doing to me."

You begin to realize your struggles are in vain.  You are powerless to change what has transpired--  a stinging reminder of your own mortality!  EA's profit soars higher as you sink lower, until...

Stage 5:  Acceptance
tinyurl.com/7tlt2td
Bioware:  "We think players, you included, actually like how we handled the end.  Thank you for playing!"
You:  "Okay"

Bridges have been burned, galaxies have been destroyed.  Realizing that things will never be the same, you press on nonetheless.  You're all the wiser for the next time.  Perhaps you'll try talking with your money next time.  But probably not.

SO!  Which stage are YOU currently at?  Personally, I'm still pissed as hell!

Edit:  This editor seems to be kind of buggy.  Also, apparently I can't post pics yet -.-

I'm between 4 and 5, slowly working my way up to 5 as I start yet again another playthrough of the wonderful Baldur's Gate series.

Irony: I'm laughing about how BioWare screwed this up. This is so epic.

I'm at apathy. Don't really care. Will be playing other games. Building my Game of Thrones world in MInecraft etc. Pick this up a year later in the bargain bin or Stream. Granted it being on Steam is less likely than finding a better ending.

Left out stage 1 (played Arrival - saw the writing on the wall, so to speak)

Went straight into stage 2 and cancelled my preorder.

Never believed in stage 3, because realized that Bioware does no longer need or even want me as a customer.

Am now in stage 4. Actually much more depressed, than I thought I would be.

Hope to enter stage 5 soon.

Apathy since the demo.

I'm shocked more than anything, just how far the reality differs from the ideal they presented.

I'm not. Only issue I have is the "magic teleportation" of your squadmates (if that's indeed what happens, I'll have to play and see for myself) onto the Normandy. Which I'll absolutely point out is stupid and should be fixed. Arguably the Team Dextro problem as well, but having the opportunity to "save" a couple folks would substantially lessen that problem in the first place.

Everything else I'm pretty much cool with. The epilogue is kind of a dopey framing device, and probably not entirely necessary, but it's done all the time, and people are making assumptions about its implications that really aren't all that justified. There are several possible explanations of it floating around, and I'll have to decide for myself which one makes the most sense, but I'm pretty sure the people suggesting that it means the entire series was made up are stretching the truth more than a little bit.

None. Never went through any. I actually liked the endings, and the three choices you were given. Destroying the Mass Relay's essentially end's all the Reaper's influence, legacy, and "path." Not to mention it definitively ends the series.

stage 5. I went from stage 2 to stage 4, until I asked myself why I was getting so worked up over a computer game.

I'm jumping between all of the first 4 stages. I'll never hit 5. I'm a woman, damnit, I can hold a grudge to the grave if I have to.

I never thought I'd actually EVER say this, but I think I've lost faith. I used to be a pretty typical fanboi, I can say that in hindsight. I would argue with what I THOUGHT were trolls for hours at a time, defending Bioware ad infinium.

At first, it started with accidentally stumbling upon the ending leaks, I was choked about being spoiled of course, but I was clinging onto how they COULDN'T be the only endings... right?

I fought tooth and nail (so to speak) with people saying that the Normandy crew is ALWAYS stranded, and the mass relays get destroyed no matter what you do. However, I was still clinging to the idea that there HAD to be more endings! (DENIAL STAGE)

I then came across more spoilers, such as the Guardian, (sadly, I was told by a friend who thought I already knew) I started to get angry with the idea of the Guardian... (Why did Sovereign even have to be there in ME1 if the Guardian controlled the Citadel in the first bloody place?!) Along with the possibility that Garrus (my bro), and Liara (LI) will be stranded on a random planet, destined to live apart from me for the rest of their lives!! I want little blue babies DAMMIT!!
Naturally I felt betrayed, insulted, DECEIVED! I refused to believe that Shepard could only live in ONE of the endings (Destroy, which I didn't want to take, seeing as how EDI, the Geth, and the Citadel -along with the millions of people on it- will be destroyed). (ANGER STAGE, coming out of DENIAL)

I prayed for an agreeable scenario, I was willing to pay for a "happy ending", not Disney style, but at least something that would allow me to spill some drinks on the Citadel with the Normandy crew, and then proceed to assist in a galactic restoration effort or SOMETHING! DAMMIT BIOWARE! TAKE MY MONEY! (BARGAINING STAGE)

I willingly looked up spoilers at this point, determined to find the truth...

I found what I was looking for, but was not pleased. I began to realize that the ending I wanted was impossible, and the answers to the "space magic" plot holes would never be revealed... I was saddened.. I felt betrayed by the writers I originally attempted to protect.

I was sad. (DEPRESSION STAGE)

Finally, I decided that this is the way it is. Bioware has made it's decision, and I have to roll with the punches. I am of course, still geared up and ready to play, keeping a level head of optimism for what lies ahead. Not because I'm in denial or think they'll change it, but because I am likely to handwave the ending to establish a headcanon.

As Mac Walters referenced in his blog entry "it is not the destination, it is the journey". While I am absolutely excited for the journey, I have been in denial, angered, depressed, and even tried to bargain with the destination, but have managed to accept it, and will reserve total judgment until reaching it. (ACCEPTANCE STAGE)

Yep.

I've gone from infuriated to resignation. Now I'm astoundingly amused by it all. The writing is so astonishingly incoherent and bad, the game has become something of a black comedy to me rather than a war-time melodrama. It's like Groucho Marx and Franz Kafka teamed up with Nietzche and Lovecraft, and created this proverbial Frankenstein's monster from the carcasses of other stories.
