OP, I'm 60 and I will be at my Gamestop at midnight release to pick-up my CE. I'll probably get a few weird looks at me while waiting in line with the younger crowd, but hey, I've always wanted to do it and so I'm going to do it!

I'm going to have as much fun as I can and enjoy the game. Will ME3 be perfect, no. But I knew that already going in. The one thing I have learned is life it too short -- so have fun when you can.

In my opinion even a bad ending can't ruin a good game, and from what i have seen ME3 is going to be good. Sure, there are aspects of the game i don't like, like the auto dialogue, but the rest looks very promising.
I can't wait to play it!

This !!

Even when i don't like the endings i'm still checking it. I'll reserve my final judgment until the end of the week though.

Yes, you're the only one and every single pre-order has been cancelled.

Funny. Save your sarcasm for elsewhere.

I am. I'm honestly past the point of even caring about the endings. They don't make that much sense even 100% as they stand, so why agonize? Also people are practically willing to throw money for new ones, and I am not putting it past them to gobble that free money up for a 3 second cutscene dlc pack.

So I'll enjoy the game for what it is, and just shake my head sadly at what could have been for the ending.

I pretty much removed myself from the community and everything ME3, so I don't know any of the crappy details of the game so far. Looks like browsing a few of the threads it looks like the ending sucks.

But yeah I'm looking forward to this game as I've already prepaid for ME3 CE on the PS3 and PC at my local gamestop.

Actually, I believe it is more correct to say "in the opinion of some nerdraging douchebags the ending sucks".

A victory over the Reapers, no matter how bitter, doesn't qualify as "bad", unless you fully expected a "rainbows and butterflies" resolution. And well, it's the Reapers! How naive do you have to be to expect rainbows and butterflies.

Especially since this isn't about Shepard's Happily Ever After.

Mass Effect is about Shepard Stopping the Reapers. At any cost.

That some people can't get it through their thick skulls, that's another matter.

P:S: : At the end of the day, flush all these moaning self-entitled know-it-alls and their opinions down the toilet. Form your own opinions and enjoy your own Shepard.

Not to mention if you play your cards right, a lot of your friends survive. So Shepard may not, doesn't mean your friends and loved ones won't.

Precisely!

Shepard's story is about giving it all you've got to save everybody else, even the faceless billions that you cannot possibly make an emotional connection with.

It is not a freaking Hollywood action movie/Disney fairy tale where the hero kicks ass, then gets the girl, then have kids happily ever after. And that some people WERE expecting some cheap sugary Hollywoodian schlock for an ending, that's their problem, not Bioware's de-merit.

What Bioware did, being generous with the "bitter" in bittersweet, is VERY brave. Aces in my books.

P.S. : That's what really gets me. People that fault the endings are on an " I (Shepard) am so awesome " ego trip, when this attitude is more suited to the superficial thrills of Call of Duty. Not the "blood, sweat and tears" sagas that Bioware has made a name for itself for doing so well. These poor souls see Shepard as nothing more than a 1-dimensional action hero. Then rail when they are denied the cloned-recloned Standard Hollywood Happy Ending.

I look forward to seeing if it disappoints me or not, I really hope it doesn't.

---

It isn't the endings that I'm worried about, its the game itself.

Not all the people who complained about the endings is because they isn't a happy ending (myself included), but because of the resolution of some things.
I wanted sad endings, but the are things that i don't like. I'll feel better If the Normandy crew have died with Shepard, instead of what is implied.

The again it's a kind of full circle. Remember the Prothean VI on Ilos. He mentioned quite a grim fate for a certain group of intrepid Prothean soldiers and scientists that infiltrated the Citadel and corrupted the Keeper's signal. If it weren't for them...

Then again, I do sympathise. If it was a "blaze of glory" it would have been palatable. As it stands...

And it's this that I commend Bioware for.

They are the game masters. They could have given us rainbows and butterflies, or a spartan death in a blaze of glory. But it's been done. What hasn't been done is, well, what is implied.

They did "all is well" and "blaze of glory" for Dragon Age Origins, and did it damn well.

Can you blame them for trying something different? Mature? Unsettling? Yes, even unfair.

My 2 cents, it's very brave and very mature of them to pick the road not often taken, even more so for such a huge project.

I'm looking forward to the fan invasion of bioware forums next week. It will be many times more epic than the reaper invasion.

Still excited despite hearing about the spoilers. Even if the "best" ending leaves so much room for interpretation.

Going to imagine Shep in a "Cast Away" kind of scenario. If she meets up with LI afterwards, and if he's lucky enough to live, then I'd imagine him getting with his dentist with a little Turian daughter too.

And Shep will be sick of eating sushi.

You're never alone in anything. There could be countless parallel universes where alternate yous created this thread with no variation in the process whatsoever.

Concerning this universe, if I play ME3 and say I liked the ending, will it cease to exist?

I'm about as pumped as I'll ever be for a game (only HL3 would top it), much more excited than I was for ME2. Ash & Wrex back again while fighting for survival, couldn't get anymore epic :o

I've been cutting my wrists for days waiting on this game, if it doesn't come out soon I'll be all out of blood. I've seen the endings, I love and hate them at the same time, but they're as bad ass as bad ass can be, the destruction of the relays made me cry... manly tears (aww... fuuu... i literaly cried... and I admit it). I hope for 1 extra thing though: closure, give a glimpse of the surviving characters, anything relevant and not a tease (like a normandy door opening)... I need more than that to say to myself "it's gonna be ok, they're gonna be ok, i did the best i could, and they made it, i wish them well). I want closure, not a grandpa telling a child a story about "the sheperd"... that's what annoys me.

I don't think I've been this psyched for a game in a long time. Mass Effect has been one of my favorite games but not my absolute favorite. As of now, it's my 2nd favorite (Dragon Age my favorite).

I've never tried to get a game at midnight, but tonight I might actually try. I feel kind of rediculous going out at that hour just to grab a video game. I want this game bad though.

All the negative garbage on the forums hasn't done anything to me wanting this game less. I think the mature ME fans come here to see good news and leave it at that. The whiners love to post a lot unfortunately. Would be nice to see fun posts to add to the experience.

I may be wrong, but I think all the negativity on the forum ruined chances at free stuff like they did for Dragon Age. All the excitement and enthusiasm posted just before release resulted in a good number of free DLC stuff, contests for tees, artwork, etc. It's a shame really. Luckily I think the game will make it for that by itself.
