This is an extremely obnoxious issue that is really getting me worked up. I can't play the SP game till something is worked out here that really works (yes I tried the step-by-step above, and I still can't see any of my finished ME2 savegames in ME3.)

I tried the step by step above and the information on the Website for importing
https://help.ea.com/...o-mass-effect-3

Neither worked. I tried to contact bioware support via chat (named Arita) and said that I tried all of this and instead they just simply disconnected the chat. Some customer service.

So what's the word on this. Just like many I found out now as I went to import my ME2 folder. I'm just so happy I have to wait and can't play. Also glad I bought those Bioware points for the DLC that I also must wait on.

Well back to BF3 where I'll wait for the fixes in that game as well.

Only game with complete main quest line can be imported.

I have Steam version ME2 (without _class_ in name of directory) - profile was imported.

My save file consisted of a completion of ME 1 & 2 and is still unrecognized completely by Mass effect 3. Also tried disabling cloud, no luck with that either. :\\. Hope some modders get to a solution if bioware isn't able to fix this.

I did something totally different , it worked , i used a save game from online & created a file naming structure & renamed the same files in it , ME3 picked it up

anyone interested , download the folder

http://sachinsachani...dept_170212.zip

paste it in your ME2 saves ,

also make sure ur ME3 gamersettings.ini points to your ME2 saves directory

Omg, I love you.  None of my saves were showing up, and doing this (I left the Kyleshepard save in there) actually worked.  My save showed up finally.

Meaning is not completely (not full) transferred? It is transferred in particular?

I'm not sure I'm following what you're trying to say. My save file completed both games, yet mass effect 3 fails to display any saves when i attempt to import.

If you have Steam version of ME2, you can try install Origin ME2 (export game key from Steam) and refresh game save (load/save) for Importing.

This solution worked for me, but I did it a little different. See I got a new hard drive awhile back when my last one fried. So I didn't have ME2 on my machine anymore. After Installing ME3 and then trying to reinstall ME2 i couldnt do it because ME2 downlod didnt install the VC++ runtime correctly. But heres the kicker, it still made a full ME2 folder on my C:\\ drive so i as able to see a empty save folder for ME2. I just downloaded that file up above and placed my custom save file into that folder that I go from masseffectsaves.com. I edited my INI file to direct the save games to my ME2 folder and tried to import it ingame and eureka it was there ready for an import.

I will try that when I get home. As of now I can't do anything as I'm at work.

However last night I reinstalled ME3, and started to redownload ME2 to see if maybe going back to the "default install" will help transfer things over.

Here is what happened with me. I have two accounts on my windows 7 machine. My standard user account and my administrator account (called 'shadowbroker ). I do all of my installs from the standard account and run all of my games from this standard account. Even though I do all my installs here the Mass Effect 3 game was looking in the 'shadowbroker' documents/BioWare/Mass Effect 2/ folder instead of my standard user documents folder.

I copied my ME2 save game files from the standard account folders to the admin account document folders and then ME3 could find my old games.

The ME3 config program REALLY should have a manual 'go to this folder' and load function.

My game doesn't seem to create a Documents\\Bioware\\Mass Effect 3\\Save\\ folder. I found that folder obscured in my Origin Games folder. So after transferring my ME2 save files over into Origin Games, I was able to see a list of my Shepards in the import menu in-game. Now I run into the problem of not being able to actually import them. When I click on my ME2 careers, the Time Played and Last Played stuff is completely blank and there are no plot decisions listed on any of them. I've seen people asking about this same problem and, so far, have not found any solution. I've been desperately trying to get this to work since midnight of March 6 and it's really disheartening.

Had no problems seeing my saves. However, on all my saves when playing ME2, I always continued and made a save immediately on the Normandy.

If someone not seeing a save file could email or provide a link, I'd like to look at the save file for what I believe is the problem (the completed game tick).

Hi,

Copying your Mass Effect 2 'Save' folder directly into the Mass Effect 3 'Save' folder will not allow you to import your character. You will see you character's profile in the Import ME2 Character menu but nothing will happen when you click 'Import Career/Character' :(.

A previous tread suggest that you create a 'Mass Effect 2' folder in the 'BioWare' folder, giving you the following directory:-

C:\\Users\\NAME\\Documents\\BioWare\\Mass Effect 2

After that, copy the 'Save' folder (the one containing your character) into the 'Mass Effect 2' folder. Once done, you should have the following directory:-

C:\\Users\\NAME\\Documents\\BioWare\\Mass Effect 2\\Save\\

Run Mass Effect 3 and you should be good to go :).

This method has worked for me and it is worth the try for those of you that only have Mass Effect 3 on your computer or are transferring your 'Save' folder between computers.

Oh, in order for the import to work, your character must complete the entire storyline of the previous games. If you're playing the game for a second time using the same character, it will not hinder the import regardless of whether your character is in the Normandy or in the midst of a mission.

There is one drawback though. Certain decision(s) made in ME1/ME2 may be altered i.e. who you romanced in ME1/ME2 and/or who lived and died :(. I have this issue with regards to my characters romance decision. I'm not sure if anyone else using this import method is having the same experience.

*Troubleshooting credits goes to those that posted the various solutions in previous treads. Thanks guys :).*

ok guys - after f***ing around since yesterday afternoon, I finally got it to work

it all came down to editing the .ini files that were mentioned above.

i copied the directory that my ME2 save files were in, opened gamersettings.ini in BIOgame/config and pasted the directory into "save location". I then went into ME3's .ini file and pointed the saves to exactly the same place

loaded it up and voila, worked.

Any particular reason why my game creates its "Bioware\\Mass Effect 3\\" folder in the Origin Games folder? All my settings are default as far as I know and I definitely didn't redirect it at any point (I don't even think you can). I feel like that's the thing causing problems for me.
