In the full version of Mass Effect 3 multiplayer, players obtain Reinforcement Packs using credits earned while playing the game.  These packs may include weapons, upgrades, consumables and new characters to play. Based on player feedback during the demo period, the drop rate for rare race/class combinations and weapons has been improved.

For players who do not wish to spend time earning these multiplayer credits through matches, they will have the option to purchase certain packs through real currency.  Our goal is to allow all Mass Effect 3 players the ability to experience the best equipment, characters, etc in multiplayer regardless of how much time they have to spend. :)

Chris... jeeze. You're giving people the ability to literally BUY THEIR WAY THROUGH THE GAME.

I feel like I should tell someone 'I told you so...'.

...Possibly myself, I knew that system in ME3 MP was just too good to be true.

Yep MP is too good to be true because now Bioware allows for people to not only pay with in game credits but also pay with real money. Oh yeah it is the end of Bioware as we know it.

Chris isn't giving anybody anything. Evil Chris didn't design the multiplayer, nor did he make any monetary decisons regarding equipment packs in the multiplayer. He is a community manager/coordinator.

How is it distasteful? It in no way harms the experience and it is simply a way to get some more money. If someone wants to actually pay for it, then be my guess but it isn't harming me at all since I'm using in game currency.

I mean more from a gaming point of view.  I'm just old fashioned, but the fun in games used to be about really working for unlocks, cheats etc.  I used to love things like in some of the old fighting games for example where you'd really value a certain character or unlock because you had to put in some real game time to get them.  Just buying them, I don't know it's just something that troubles me personally.

You know, this isn't addressed to you personally? But there are days when you guys make it hard for me to like you.

This is one of those days.

I can still buy with ingame credits and the drop rates are the same?

I'm good, carry on Bioware. Hope you make tons of money off it. Just beware the slippery slope.

ETA: Be nice if you could get credits at a strict exchange rate for Bioware points, not just in certain blocks.  I got 80 points that have been sitting on my account for almost a year.

It's dumb yes, but it doesn't affect you in anyway unless you purchase it. It's not the first game to do somethin like this.

there is no guarantee of that since you get random items from the packs and the items may repeat in some cases, so if you  are planning to buy your way it may happen that you realise that you have spent more than what you had planned

I never said it was uncommon. I'm painfully aware of how common this kind of thing is becomming. That doesn't change my particular opinion of this kind of thing. Which is to say "shameless money siphoning".

If you're fine with it, that's cool. Do you see anyone moaning at you for not having a problem with it? No. Then why are you arguing so strongly? Nobody is getting particularly irritated by the idea here.

Listen is someone is stupid enough to actually buy something they can get relatively easy I say you just let them.

It's their loss.

Ok so we get an instant response to the cash grab but a 12000 post thread is ignored ? On the upside with this focus on cash maybe there will be a $10 somewhat happy ending DLC.
