 I know there's been lots of information leaking flooding in recently so maybe I haven't seen this if it has been talked about, but do we know exactly how this works?

Really what I'd like to know is if my Vanguard Shep who saved Ashley will be screwed out of Barrier and/or Reave (my two powers of choice in ME2)  because Kaidan's all deadzies. I can start up another one of my Shepards before that one just to unlock those powers if I need to, but that seems a little silly to me. 

So yeah, any information on the process would be super appreciated.

If you want Kaidan's bonus powers, you will need to recruit Kaidan.

Yes, you will.

Bonus powers are gained by talking to squad members.

I assume the system's still in place where if you've unlocked the power for one save you'll have it for every other save as well? Guess I'm importing one of my other Shepards first, it seems almost wrong to have this Shepard without Barrier.
