Like the topic says.
Why, Bioware, WHY. How can you not fix that bug. How can Udina be councilor when I have chosen Anderson D:
Man, I could even live with if you messed my romance option up and made my John Shepard hook up with Kaidan, but this? It's an outrage ;___________________; *sadface*

tl;dr:

Are you trolling or serious?

Well if you're serious, Anderson retires in one of the books and Udina is the councilor regardless of your choice in ME1.

(Please don't quote this comment with the sarcastic comment about choice mattering)

Anderson stepped down. Udina took his place and dyed his hair black, apparently.

In one of the books (which one escapes me) Anderson resigns as the counciller.

What the hell D:
I didn't read the books.

But this makes it even more an outrage.

What good was my choice for then... :/

Anderson steps down, he even states in ME2 he does not enjoy the role and would rather be in a different situation.

Anderson stepped down and became an admiral again, allowing udina to take his place. This happens for every game. Provides an interesting twist in the story.

Sorry for spoiling anything, but this question needed answering.

It was good for nothing. Putting a military man in a political position is never a good idea. They aren't qualified for the job.

You know... the rest of the universe does have their own decision making ability.   Just because you 'recommended' him initially, doesn't mean he was forced to continue to follow that decision.

This has to do with a bug in ME1. Most people did not stick to the end of the credits in ME1, which is the only point where ME saves the councilor choice so that you can import it to ME2. Because most people did not wait for this, Bioware simply made that choice irrelevant.

It's not a bug, if Anderson was councillor, he steps down in one of the books for one reason or another, and Udina replaces him regardless.

People have issues or something?

How can some people just turn off their console before credits?!

They don't explain that in the game? Not even a comment from Anderson? Sucks for those who haven't read the books.

Just being picky.  In ME1 Anderson was a captain. If he is an admiral in me3 his military rank has risen.  Also your choice did effect you in ME2.  I think they needed anderson from a storytelling perspective for ME3, atleast judging from the demo, Plus its shepard we make the choices for, not everyone in the ME universe  :).

Good Luck with ME3

Cheers!

As I recall, they fixed that bug by having you choose again at the start of ME2 when Miranda and Jacob are asking questions about your past.

He steps down because he has to "take care of some things" and they were pretty big things.

In Retribution, the book, Anderson steps down as either the Councilor or Advisor and returns to the Alliance.

the book, not the novel, its Retribution.
