Do they seriously not explain this in the game?

Idk. Anderson didn't say anything in the beginning.
And I don't know if he will later.

I didn't get the whole beginning tbh. (the demo mission is the first mission if anyone wonders)

Normandy SR-2 was Shep's ship.

Suddenly ME3 starts, Normandy is an Alliance ship again. Wut?

Or to quote Hackett in ME2 Arrival: "I hope you can fill in the leap of logic between these two events" :?

not a big leap, the alliance comondered the ship. plain and simple.

How? Why? Just because shep gave himself up doesn't mean the entire crew does. Not every shep stopped being cerberus, and if shep doesn't stop being cerberus the crew doesn't stop being cerberus.

There is much that needs explaining.

Anderson stepped down. Udina took his place and dyed his hair black, apparently.

"Udina dying Anderson´s hair black"

WTF?

What good was my choice for then... :/

It was good for nothing. Putting a military man in a political position is never a good idea. They aren't qualified for the job.

If US: Washington.

Other countries I don't recall their history much.

Aderson steps down and Udina takes his place.

In what game? I didn't remember making this choice in a book.

It isn't goosbumps chooce your adventure. It was "cannon" for Anderson to step down and Udina to take his palce. THe books which I didn't read make that 100% true no matter what you say.

Which makes it pointless in having it in the game in the first place. The games need to stand alone on their own feet.. It's the same thing with putting such stuff into movies and saying "Well if you wanted to know this and that, then you should have read the books."

I sort of had a feeling this would happen when I heard Anderson's sad tirade about how being a Councillor wasn't how he planned on spending his twilight years.

I always chose Udina anyway. He's a slimy, back-stabbing, arrogant and stubborn bastard. The perfect politician.

That's barely acceptable. Next we're going to figure out that the Rachni Queen died of the flu on Noveria and the Destiny Ascension crashed into an asteroid with the Council on board.

It was pretty clear that Anderson did not enjoy his job as either being part of the councilors or helping them.  He would rather be in charge of the military still.  That said, I dont think you can compare Anderson after 2(which that choice did impact you depending on how you handled the council in 1) taking a important job and stepping down vs choosing to let the Rachni live and BW killing her.

IMO, its better then forcing something to stay a certain way simply because it was chosen that was 2 games ago.  NOW with that said, if they dont tie in WHY he did it into the 3rd... That will be dumb and a waisted oppertunity for more character development in game for Anderson.

The humorous thing that most fail to remember is Anderson's line when Shep asks him to join him:

"No, this is my place now. I belong here."

In other words, he wouldn't have stepped down.

Meltemph, I have absolutely no problem with Anderson stepping down. In fact, it didn't surprise me one bit. But it should at least come up in dialogue at the start of the game. Shepard should ask him how he likes life without politics or something as they approach the committee. Blatantly ignoring the situation is not the way to go.

It should surprise you. Anderson was committed to the job, he hated it but he knew his duty. It was for the sake of humanity. Anderson as a counciler would have been able to help organize the military of the united council once the reapers hit, and failing that he could always step down AFTER.

But nope.

Then one girl whistles and anderson runs to her like the whipped dog he is. That should become a meme. >.>

That's not how the Roman Republic & Empire worked. Politicians were not only military men, but also orators and writers. A diferent time...

Politics were alot more straightforward back then than they are in the ME universe. Less paperwork and formalities. Which Anderson, a military man clearly could not be bothered with.

He never in fact stepped down. In the book, he was Udinas assistant then quits that job. He never stepped down. It's an unexplained thing that just proves that choices don't matter in ME.

Which also makes him a liar, and even more annoying that he wouldn't join us in ME2. He was going to throw it all away anyways, might as well have come and helped defeat the collectors.

You are forgetting the part about invalidating our choice. That's kinda a big issue here.
