If it's in the Codex then is not an issue, is explained.
That's one of the things that I like a lot in ME, the Codex, you can add a ton of things there.

The ultimate slap in the face for me is the fact that this didn't need to happen. Anderson could still be the human councilor and stay on earth, Udina would have probably had a loop hole somewhere to usurp Anderson's position while on the citadel.
This hardcore railroading could have been averted through simple lines of dialogue.

It was good for nothing. Putting a military man in a political position is never a good idea. They aren't qualified for the job.
The tons of Military Generals and Admirals that became Prime Ministers or Presidents of their respective countries would disagree with you sir.
The USA alone has had 11 former Generals and 5 Former Colonels amongst it's ranks, and around 28 total presidents who have seen war-time action of some sort.
