How can you even play the game early? I thought it was just the people that had the space program copies...
I work in a gamestore. Of course i'm not allowed to take the game home with me already, but no problem playing it at work. Was actually my day off, but had to spend some time with the game. Thats also the reason i didn't have a chance to import my ME2 save files. didn't care much for taking my hard drive over to work.
Playing the game. Non spoiler impressions

As you speal of Shepards Animation, how is the general body language in conversation?
That was one thing I disliked in BW Games (well in other too), Sheploo/Femshep often changed from standing to armscrossed, lean back/forward (talking with Aria in Omega) and so on.
So far, it's better. Couple of new animations(like scratching his chin, couple of others as well)
Still, lot of arm crossing during conversations, but it's better. More attention to facial expressions so far.
good to hear that, it was kinda awkard with the back and forth

Does Vega have a deep personality or is he that meathead type of guy that will appeal to GOW fanboys?
Noob question, the beggining of the game is the same as the demo right? The Shepard being on trial fr his actions on Arrival was taken out right?
Yes, the beginning is the same. Mars mission comes after that.
And don't know that much about Vega yet, but i get the idea he has a pretty interesting back story.

Are the dialogue options the same as well?
More specifically, is the fear people have of the great amount of auto-dialogue in ME3 correct? Or do you still have plenty of opportunities to pick what your Shepard is going to say?

Loyalty pays off later in the game at a crucial point between you and the VS (in this case Ash). Her inclusion in your squad, or exclusion, are not entirely by her choice in either case...

What graphic options? The only option I have is Dynamic Shadows. That's it...
Edit: Ingame AA isn't worth mentioning because it's low quality and makes the picture blurry. At least you can force MSAA & AF through CCC.

One thing I haven't heard anything about:
Is the upgrade system similar to ME 2, as in where you research stuff for upgrades at the terminal?
No. Upgrades are either bought or found, and can be applied at either the weapon bench or the armor loadout terminal in your quarters.
If you buy stuff from a citadel store however, a link gets set up with your Normandy on ship store, so you don't have to constantly travel back to a certain store to look for stuff they sell, you can just check the lower deck of the normandy.
Not sure if this changes later on, but 4 hours in the game i have found no indication that the entire mineral mining and trading those in for upgrades is making a come-back.
Ah okay. Thanks.

Also not far in but Vega is actually a very well done character.
Also look out for a slight difference at the start compared to the same sequence in the Demo. Dont get excited its only slight but see if you spot it

@ Rikbarla - if I recall correctly, did you not just crash into a collector ship? Im not 100% sure of the exact time-line between the very end of ME2 and Start of ME3, but I doubt they had THAT much time seeing as the split second you left the Collectors "Space" it flashed the Reapers coming... I suppose I could load up my ME2 and see, but anyhow, I think its dark and cables everywhere because of the fact the game takes place damn quick after ME2 ended.
EDIT - In response to one of your "Cables everywhere and dark, bad lighting" that you disliked. Also I did just google the very ending of ME2, the Reapers are already entering the galaxy when the screen flashes them very quickly. Thus I can almost guarentee there was VERY LITTLE to NO, time to repair the ship fully, as they bearly repaired it to begin with during the final battle/suicide mission.
OK now, I've gotta step in with a nothing nit here. Ashley, in ME1 and 2, was ENLISTED. A SSgt, I think. In ME3 she is a Lt Commander! There is NO WAY to jump from mid-range enlisted to mid-level officer in a mere few weeks or months. Can't happen. Hell's bells! Continuity distortion field in effect!
Sorry, just had to mention that cuz I noticed (how could one not...she's hot) Ash in the demo and she was an Lt Cmdr as I seem to recall. Staff Sgt to Lt Commander (same as a Major in the AF, Army, Marines) in a mere few months. C'MON!! That would take YEARS. It takes YEARS to go from butter bar to major rank.
OK, I got that out there and can now go back and look forward to playing the game.

Simply because I HAVE to wait until TOMORROW to start playing (the 6th) and so am hanging about here to pick up bits about it...from the above, are you saying there is no mineral/material collecting? ME1 and ME2 each had mineral collection in different forms and that either led to credits or to raw material. Are you saying that it has made a complete exit from the game? No collection of any minerals at all?

do you still get to choose your squadmates for missions or is it scripted
You can pick em.
Though i must add that after the mars mission your team only consists of 2 squad mates, so you don't have much choice.

I assume you were replying to me? OK, Gunny is up there in the Master Sgt range (top enlisted ranks) so the distance to LtCdr is not QUITE as far but it is still years of gulf.
Just a nit. Will enjoy the game just as I did ME1 and 2 so...

No mineral collection at all. Instead, you scan for war assets, upgrades (I think...?) and fuel. This explains the mechanic.
