Guys, right click the DLC (DLC specifically, not the game itself) on Origin and click "Check for updates". It will download a 500mb patch and fix your game. : )

Btw, I don't have origin in front of me atm, but how do you select the DLC specifically?  I don't think there's a separate icon in my list... just the game icon.

Actually, Change of plans...After doing a bit of research, I'm actually going to wipe and install the Windows 8 Consumer Preview, And run ME3 in that, And see if it solves the crashing.

Will report back in a few hours, Once its all up and running.

I was able to get all the way to the point where you open the pod.  The final cutscene crashes just as Admiral Hacket says "a living, breathing..."

Crashes consistantly there.  Game and DLC are both updated.  Very frustrating.

Can anyone help with another problem? My video isn't crashing but every time i try to climb down the ladder on the return trip to the pod, I glitch out at the top, can't continue or even attempt to fix it. No one else seems to be having the same problem.

I've tried restarting the mission and the game, reloading a different save and have updated and repaired both parts... Can't even play the game now

Glad to see this thread has been 'stickied'

Reformatted and Installed Windows 8 Consumer Preview, And latest Nvidia drivers...Downloading the game through Origin now...Not gonna install the DLC, And then play through and see if the crashing still persists, Even under an absolutely clean Windows installation.

If there appears to be no crashing, After extended testing, I will then rollback to Windows 7 and test again.

You are looking to find two recordings by the Protheans. The problem here is one cut scene plays after the first recording no matter which one you find first. It seems that the program logic demands you find the one in building 06 last. I guess somehow the programmers thought everyone would play that sequence and got bit by the perversity bug.

So ignore building 06 find the other recording location first. When you do play the recording in 06 second, a different cut scene plays and the game usually does not crash.

While this crash was the original reason for my posting this topic, It turns out that the crash and "MassEffect3.exe has stopped responding" error, Is not just limited to the DLC mission...The crash occurs in different missions, As well, In different situations. There is a point in the Priority: Sanctuary mission, Where the crash occurs, Apparently, There is also a point on Palaven where the crash occurs, According to a post in this forum, There is also a point, Right after the mars mission, When talking to Hackett, Where the game crashes...The bottom line is the crash is not specifically confined to the DLC mission.

As you have stated, There is a workaround for the DLC mission crash, But for the others, There is no such workaround.

Well, I have successfully completed the Earth intro, The Mars mission and made it to the citadel, Without a crash, SO FAR...

After the text scene with Liara, just hit esc 3-4 times, and then the door will appear and presto, done!

Once again....If you bother to go through the first 3 pages of this forum, You would realise that its NOT JUST the DLC mission that crashes!!!

On another, More diagnostic note:

After a CLEAN windows install, With nothing but graphics drivers, Origin and the game, WITHOUT DLC, The game has now been running for 5 hours, 2 minutes without crashing!

I have now completed both of the first two side quests: The Cerberus research base AND the evacuation of Grissom academy, Without crashing.

That said, this actually seems to happen with every class; none of my friends have NOT had this crash if they're running in either Fullscreen or Windowed (Borderless). As noted above by another poster, playing through that discussion in Windowed mode (or changing the rendering state by hitting Escape repeatedly immediately after the scene) seems to work.

-64 Bit Windows 7. Intel 2600k. GTX 460 (1gb) w/ latest Nvidia drivers.



I am stuck on the Sanctuary mission. Everytime I step into a certain lab it gives me the Mass Effect 3 has stopped responding crash. I have NO DLC and I started a new game for ME3 so it is not a ME2 save issue. I have repaired/patched, reinstalled, have latest Nvidia drivers, tried the delete the .dll, and I have disabled Origin overlay and my antivirus while playing. Nothing works. Now I am stuck since I have the walk through this lab.


*SPOILERS*
The crash lab is after you take the ladder up after watching the console video chat between Miranda's dad and the Elusive Man. I kill the reapers that attack then push through the long room to the next lab(there is a husk in a pod and a medpack on the inner right of the door as you walk in). Soon as I pass through the doorway it crashes everytime.

Male, soldier, assault rifle (the 3 burst rifle), and N7 armor.

Exact same issue as described here.
