Btw, I don't have origin in front of me atm, but how do you select the DLC specifically?  I don't think there's a separate icon in my list... just the game icon. 

When I'm in Origin, if I select the "i" icon at the bottom of the ME3 selection (all of your titles in origin should have this), the Origin window will show me all of the data regarding that game, including an uninstall option, your product code, and a list of downloaded content.
That list will show "From Ashes" and indicate it has been installed. If you right click on the title of the dlc, it will allow you to select a "repair install" option. It takes only a couple minutes.

I'm getting this crash in the From Ashes mission, same place as the OP. Using a male Vanguard with the Eviscerator. My armour is a mix of various parts which you can find lying around the world.

@samzo, repairing the DLC doesn't stop this crash nor does checking for updates help.

I'm crashing at the same point, and from what I have gathered it doesnt seem to matter what gear you have, its the sequence of the events that seems to be the trigger.

Hey, I glitched there too after I fixed my stuff with the patch. But after a bit of randomly pressing movement buttons I managed to get out.


Ps.: Bioware, in case you still need it (although I fixed it already with your patch), my ID in Origin is Dreamweaver357 (per what I remember, I always use my mail address to login haha).

Someone on another post gave a solution for the DLC crashes. For the cutscenes, when the camera pans back to Shepard and you regain control of him/her, press the escape button 2-3 times and this should work. (Worked for me).

Sorry for your issue. If using a PC try setting up a new profile on your computer. Log into that profile and play the game. A computers profile can get over loaded as time goes by and a new profile is a great choice, but reminber not to re-add everything back your origional profile is running.

Ok, I got past the crash.

To review, I wasn't crashing during or after the "Flashback" scenes while getting info to open the pod. I was crashing during the final cutscene of the mission that takes you back to the Normandy.

In any case, I manually updated the DLC (click "i" and right click From Ashes to check for update), and I also ran the game in Windowed mode during the cutscene. This got me past it. Thanks for the quick fix BW.

You should advertize you have these patches with a sticky.

Same problem, Didn't matter the resolution or windowed mode. Male Infiltrator, Basic N7 Armor, Liara and Garrus both with custom appearance 2. nvida 295.73 driver. The HUD menu trick worked.

having the same issue as everyone else.... crashing  in the From the Ashes DLC, just after the Prothean Stasis Vid in Lab 6....

Female, (can't remember class, just no its tech AND biotics), The Terminus Armor,  Assault Rifle, took Garrus with me as my sidekick...
running Win7 x64 SP1 (did a fresh reinsall a couple months ago) 6-Core AMD Phenom II, 8GB RAM, Geforce GTX 560 Ti, newest nvidia 295 series drivers

I'm about to try the pause thing to see if that helps...

Oh and my Origin ID is the same as my forum name = iGamer

apparently I hadn't done the 40MB update, retrying the game now

EDIT #2 ok the patch didn't help but holding up the HUD for 2-3 Secs bypased the crash, so far so good.

that was the only crash I experienced, it was smooth sailing after using the HUD trick,

I'm no expert but it sounds like a script error of some sort, just sayin, I hope this post helped, sorry if its a bit unorganized lol

I'm 99.9% that is not the issue, and just adds busy work.. I'm fairly certain its an issue within the game itself, not Windows, or Origin.

Ok, I'll try the workaround, but for testing purposes I didn't have this problem with my male soldier, but I AM having it with a Female Adept Liara Garrus are with me. I am wearing Blood Dragon Armor and using Hurricane V and Scorpion I.  Also, my face was a custom import all the way from Mass Effect 1. Didn't have the problem others had (might be cause I think I did a few minor tweaks in ME2, that might have "fixed" that problem).  

I downloaded the 40MB patch (didn't seem to need to update From Ashes, and I DID click on it and select "Check for updates), that did NOT fix it.  The workaround did.  Oh and if you can't get the timing right, it's ok just start spamming the SHIFT key when Liara is almost done talking. That's what I did.

Same issue.

I play a female shepard, earth born, ruthless, assault weapon~

Thus, I tried a hitting a couple time escape while at it, it worked. No crash for this time.

Well, After reformatting my hard drive, Installing the Windows 8 Consumer Preview, Installing the latest Nvidia drivers (295.73) and the game, WITHOUT DLC, I have managed to complete the game entirely, With only ONE crash, "Mass Effect TM has stopped responding" After which, I downloaded the 40.1MB patch in Origin.

Having said all that, however, The crash only happened once, In the entirety of my play through.

This leads me to believe that the cause of the crashing is a combination of the following factors:
1. The game, Itself.
2. Windows 7.
3. The 'From Ashes' DLC.

I am currently in the process of downloading and installing the DLC. However, Since it is now a few minutes before 1am, I am not going to be starting another play through, Until I wake up.

As a side note, For those who are having crashes that aren't on Eden Prime (DLC Mission), I was PM'd this workaround, Courtesy of MoAoC:

"Hello,
I kinda found, well actually remembered a way to get pass through that bugged door in Sanctuary mission. Can't post in forums for some reason, so I thought I'll share with you. So, I had similliar issue within ME2 and Shadow Broker DLC. I couldn't get pass corridor on Ilium, but there was a fix for it. Suprisingly enough it work for me in ME3.
The trick is to walk slowly pass the door, while consitently tapping F5 button for QuickSave. Yes the game will crash, but if everything done properly then when you enter the game again it will load up pass the door and let you finish the mission without further complications. Feel free to type this on Support Forum and I wish you luck with getting pass this bug."

Add Ulathar-ME to you Origin ID list.

Have the same issue each time i am back on the Normandy with the prothean and he starts talking about the transmitter. The game simply freezes. Cant tell you how angry i am right now!

The solution if it hasn't already been posted is as follows:

The Signal causes the crash after the unskippable video right after your companions talk, the solution is to go to the Pod Control option FIRST which is out of sequence (you'll see the second part of the video) then go to the Primary Signal after.

This worked for me.
