the crash occurs back on the normandy when the prothean talks about the transmitter, at least for me.

it looks like a redownload of the DLC via Origin has fixed the issue. is the file damaged on the shipped DVDs? or was it just luck that after the 5ths try the game did not freeze and i can finally move on?

I'm having this problem too.  Shepard looks like she's trying to slide down the ladder about a foot in front of where the ladder is, and just sits there until it sounds like she reaches the bottom, but just remains on top of the building instead.  I tried the "just randomly press movement buttons" suggestion, but nothing allows me to actually reach the bottom of that ladder.  It's the one right before reaching the pod, for the record.

I have the same issues. My game crashes at the same spot in the "From the ashes" download. Someone( Bioware) please help!

Ok.. "the Press ESC buttom" was correct.. solved the problem!!

Female Vanguard. N7 weapons from the Digital Deluxe Edition (shotgun, pistol and SMG) and default N7 starting armor.

I don't know if this'll help, but I thought I'd give the circumstances from my own playthrough of it, which I just did on PC last night without any issues.

My party consisted of Vega and Liara, I'm playing FemShep on a computer with a CoreDuo 3.0 GHz processor, 1 GB nVidia GeForce GTX 460 video card with 4 GB of RAM. I saved upon landing on the planet and before each point of getting the stasis unit information (so before cutscenes). I had no glitches or freezes.

I have the same problem. Just before closing the game though, I have the ingame message that I have changed the display options and to press apply to keep it. So yes, I'm going to try to pass that in windowed mode.

Female, Sentinel, equipped with one of every weapon (sniper rifle currently out), mish-mash of looted armor pieces.

I have the non-digital Collector's Edition, if that helps.

The Update on Origin for the From Ashes DLC fixed my problem. Go Download that guys

Same here, my Shep is female engineer weearing custom N7 armor.....

 I have a bizarre variation on this. Was able to get past the crash using windowed mode, but now I can't get audio in game at all. The BioWare/EA launch plays as normal, but as soon as I hit the main menu all sound is gone. Checked my speaker settings and they are normal. 

Shepard: Female, Infiltrator, N7 armor, I can't check the exact loadout from where I've saved but I know I've got a sniper rifle and a heavy pistol. 
Brought Garrus as 3rd squadmate.

Tried loading an older save but the problem persists.

 Aaand, checked for patch to main game (rather than From Ashes, I'd already patched it), it was there, and problem solved. Not sure why I didn't think of that before.

Bioware failing at this now we dont want bandaids we want our product that some of us paid for get the ball rolling already and get the patch in.
 i already have the 1.01 patch it isnt fixing the problem.

Same issue here, Male, Infiltrator, N7 armour.

I overcame it using the "spam menu button" method, but was incredibly annoying. I'm fairly certain the game is patched, but sinced I don't really understand how Origin works its hard to tell.

Crashes right after viewing the video that turns Shepard's eyes green. The patch was also applied before I started this mission.

Origin ID: The_Gooser
Shepard: Male
class: Infiltrator
Weapons: Viper Sniper Rifle (this is the gun he is holding after the cutscene) and Katana Shotgun
Armor: All N7 Wargear, including the helmet.

EDIT:

I tried a fix that was posted earlier in the thread; I was able to get the game to work by turning on window mode w/border and by watching the Prothean videos in the wrong order.

I did the press escape thing. It fixed that crash. But now I am crashing in multiplayer and storyline during the next fight right after the cutscene I was crashing at.

I have the same problem that others are having in this thread, same point many others have mentioned right after Shepard gets the signal. My Origin ID is similar to BSN: Pacifien. It makes kitty angry.

Thanks! Its like the game stalls out trying to give control back to the back to the player. Only by forcing control does the game go "oh right.. here you go.. off you go."

Female, soldier, termanus armor. I was using the assault rifle you pick up from the turians, Phenonix or something.
