How does it feel to play the game at lvl 30? I kinda felt that I already had the most important abilities leveled up when I started the game with an import save, also the enemies seemed easy to beat.

Can't reall decide if I should just make a new Shepard or continue playing as a lvl 30.

unless you play on Hardcore/Insanity you wont feel much of a challenge

Yeah, that's what I thought and starting a new game will only let me choose who died on Virmire so that kinda sucks.

Actually, even if you are playing on Hardcore/Insanity, a level 30 Shepard makes a HUGE difference. You can immediately max out 2 abilities and almost a 3rd one or split the points at your leisure. Assuming you got some experience from the demo (especially the mp part), you can rip enemies apart.

I find it a lot more fun, I'm on hardcore lvl 30+ woth an Adept Shep. Maxed out two abilities to make the Cerberus peeps blow the eff up. Speeds things right along.

I thank MP to help me get comfortable using the new battle system and all the combined abilities. Already unlocked a couple of achievements with combinations.

It's reeeeaalllyyy fun XD

So I imported a save and got the lvl I had at the end of ME2, but somewhere after the mars mission I went back to lvl 1 and 4-5 of my abilities were locked. Is this normal?

No one forces you to spend points ...
... rather than upgrading all at once,
... upgrade skills as fighting becomes more challenging.

When do you get to choose the action mode? I just did an import and there wasn't a prompt as with the demo to choose if I wanted action, rpg, or story...

Well it makes me think that Shep is an experienced warrior, and not dippy mc newbie, like I did at level 1 in the level.

You don't choose mode if you import, it assumes that you play in RPG mode if you import. You can change the decision making process and difficulty of combat in Narrative and Gameplay options.
