Hi,

I just realized that I am logged into the forums with only http. When I tried to prefix the login link with https it redirected back to http. What is the login process, is there an encrypted component duing the passing of my email and password during login?

I ask as I use the same info to access Origin and all my games and dlc are tied to it.

Confirmed! This site is encrypted over HTTPS when submitting passwords (login, signup and a few more pages). Even if you manually attempt to login over HTTP we will ignore the request and bounce you to an HTTPS version of the page.

While the login form on the top left (when not logged in) shows up on HTTP pages it still is submitting over HTTPS as you are seeing with wireshark.
