My answer would be....that it's not fair. We had Liara if we wanted an alien that looked very human.

It is kind of strange how traditionally "sexy" the female LI's are, compared to the male LI's. Yes, there's Jacob and Kaidan... but then there's also Garrus and Thane, who are a pretty good walk away from the media image of a good looking guy. I was kind of hoping Tali would be the exception.. BUT...
Thane was outright designed to appeal to the female playerbase. Though we get the weirdest romances, I agree.
I think Liara is still has the weirdest romance. Every conversation with her in ME1 was like 0.o

I don't know.. sure, his story was really compelling and all but I just wasn't feeling it. (I'm a girl btw) In my opinion, he more so look reptilian than he does human. Garrus looks like.. I don't know.. a dinosaur? My point being they actually look alien.
The female LI's on the other hand are just blatant female sexpots. One just happens to have blue skin, and the other wears a mask.

They had to show her face eventually, especially in the third and last game.
If they decided not to show her face, the majority would not be satisfied.
If they decided to make her so alien that she becomes repulsive, I assure you that the majority would be disgusted. Though some may find appeal in loving a person for their 'personality' instead of their looks. I do admit that the pretty girl behind the glasses/mask routine is an old one, but its a warming one nevertheless.
Liking happy endings/cliches doesn't make you any less intelligent than some turtle neck sweater wearing hipster. In fact, having the willingness to accept that you enjoy cliches in face of the stigma that comes with it, makes you a more likeable person anyways.
So yeah, Tali is hot. Thank God.
You know...Bioware could have done a happy medium.....make her look alien enough.....but not enough to make her repulsive. I would have been fine with that. Tali at least should have had a face that looked more alien then liara....and they could have done that without her becoming some repulsive monster.
But as it was said earlier.....Bioware took the easy way out....and because of it.....Tali has become in ways, less alien then even Liara. Sad really.

I liked how Bioware did it with the Drell they don't look too alien, but they also don't look too human either,I would have prefered if Quarians resembled the Geth at least, the "space elf" concept has been done to death

She has three fingers and two toes with some weird knee things.
I think shes still more alien than the blue humans for the most part.

This. Garrus and Thane looked completely alien, yet got by on personality, and they have healthy fanbases based of their LI plots. Tali could have easily done this to. Yet she's a cliche space elf now. Oh well, i still like the character, and will probably continue the LI in one of my playthoughs. Just dissapointed that bioware went the Asari route again, instead of making alien looking aliens

That is laughably lazy. THAT's what the buildup led to? A barely-edited photo of a human?

Maybe bioware thinks that the male mass effect players just can't handle a truly alien romance....like the women can. They would be wrong then.

Maybe she looks so human....because SHE IS HUMAN. What a twist. We find out that she was infact adopted into the Quarian fleet...and wore a suit...because she wanted to be a quarian. She even had surgery so her fingers, feet, and legs, would look quarian like.
It all makes sense now.
I can't believe i didn't see that coming.

The look on Shep's face in that scene in 2 implied understanding and kindness, the kind that, even if she looked odd, they wouldn't have cared. Yet now that we see what it was all along, there was utterly no point in hiding it in the first place.

Glad I am not the only one to notice geth are made in the quarian image. In the past, I have psotulated they were perhaps reptilian or resemble more the classic BEM since the eyes seem large. I hope this is not real because it seems too outlandish with the three fingers and clawlike chicken/lizard tyranasaurus rex feet that she'd be a hot human girl face.Malanek999 wrote...
And they are shaped like that because of the shape of the head. The Quarian helmets, particularly the males, are in comparison flat and long, very elongated at the front. I expected the head shape to resemble Geth, who they built in their image.

I'm really disappointed.
So the Quarians have been retconned to the point that they are no longer aliens? Apparently Quarian women are just three fingered white girls now. I can understand making her 'hot,' as she's a love interest. And one of the more popular ones to boot. But making her nearly completely human in appearance is terrible fan pandering.
Bioware's art team should have walked a middle ground between alien and human features. Instead they've gone nearly completely human.
