In that artists's defense his version now looks more alien than the version in game.

Sad to say, but the above would be an improvement.

Of course it is. Almost anything will be more alien than hot chick with
glowy eyes. And yes, creating good-looking alien without it being reskinned human is quite hard, but possible. Either art departament was needlesy cautious with all those rabid talimancers running amok it this forum, either some higher art director decided to go al star trek.

Also, i hope that initial image is fake.

Some of them did.

The ones who chose Tali because she wasn't a human like Ashley or Miranda, will be disappointed.

Hm, if she is a space elf, then she really seems to be the ME incarnation of DA2 Merrill.

She's still not human. Even Liara's basically a human with blue skin and wormy hair. Nice if blue skin turns you on.. or wormy hair for that matter :)

I like how they kept the design of those 'circuit board' thingies she had on her forehead in the famous fanart, even though they've been moved down to her neck. That's just too uncanny.

No....we ARE the quarians.  Perhaps humans are a subspecies of the quarian race.

"There are those who believe that life here began out there, far
across the universe, with tribes of humans who may have been the
forefathers of the Egyptians, or the Toltecs, or the Mayans. They may
have been the architects of the great pyramids, or the lost
civilizations of Lemuria or Atlantis. Some believe that there may yet be brothers of man who even now fight to survive somewhere beyond the heavens...

Maybe the Quarian race never came from Rannoch either.  Perhaps they came from another planet.  Unfortuntly....like there future counterparts....they built machines.  The day came when these machines decided to turn against their masters.  Most of the quarians were wiped out.

There fleet had to flee and survive from this machine menace.  Over a few years....there fleet split into two groups.  Both groups lost pursuit of the genocidal machines.

One group landed on a Planet....which they named Rannoch....decided to start a new life.

The other group....fearful that the group landing on Rannoch would repeat history (which of course did happen with the Geth)...left them.

This group came to a planet....which they named....EARTH.  They also ditched there technology.  Over time, because of there environment....they evolved to the modern day human.  The Quarians of Rannoch, over time, looked different then there terran counterparts, because of the enviorment of Rannoch.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Actually this theory would make sense the similarity between Man and Quarian.  The term "Quarian" is just another name for a version of humanity.

The Quarians are now white chicks with three fingered hands and chicken feet.

The Asari were already pushing the limits with their human features. Making another species even more human looking was a bad direction to go.

Folks got too emotionally attached to her.

Let's face it, it would be unfair if she was anything other than attractive, and the only way she can appear attractive is by having features humans are hardwired to find attractive - ie. she looks like a human female.

Those that had no emotional involvement in her have much less to gain from her looking more alien since at this stage of the trilogy it would only serve to troll those that had been building her up. There is always another race out there to discover for the bizarre looking factor in the future.

You people realize few people have naturally blonde hair by the time of ME, right?

Kahlee is of average height and build; her most notable feature is shoulder-length naturally blonde hair, which, as a genetically recessive trait, has become a rarity by the 2100s.

which is a pretty big science fail on bioware's part, blonde hair dying out is a myth based on pseudoscience and a misunderstand on how genetics work

Plus I'm sure they still have hair dye in the future. Especially with the purple hair in the demo.

Actually, having just compared that picture with an older picture of Tali there's a noticeable difference in the design of her hands. In the unmasked picture, she appears to have a human hand, although all but three fingers are in the shadow. It looks as though the hand continues into the dark as if more fingers may be hidden their in the black.

In the picture of Tali from an older game, her fingers are short and stumpy, thinner at the base and get fatter towards the tips. There's also a noticeable gap of about a whole finger width between each of the fingers on her hand, unlike the unmasked picture.

Here's a stock picture of Tali from one of the first two games for comparison.

This has me doubting the image just a tad...

...and plastic surgery. You see, Tali is the only Quarian that looks like that because she hired one of the descendents of Michael Jackson's family surgeon.

If that is the final art for Tali, it is horrible. Does that seriously look like an alien that spent their life in a sealed suit???

How does she have such nice hair, if most of her life she can't even see it/touch it with her actual hands (without a suit)?

I think it is her although the fingers kinda make me skeptical. But the facial structure is dead on what the silhouette in the helmet appears to be.

Yawn, boring. They really could've done something special here but just took the easy route.

Disappointed to say the least.

I'm going to have to just assume that's a photo Tali's been carrying around for a while, from her younger days while she still lived among her own kind. There might be places the Quarians can go for short periods where they can survive outside their suits without too much risk of infection or disease - and maybe have a bath while she's at it.

I'd imagine she'd probably be really stinky at the moment, with really bad helmet hair that's slowly suffocating her as it continues to grow within the confines of the suit.

That's if the picture is indeed of Tali - it could be of her Grandmother from centuries ago on her home planet for all we know. Lets not forget, ancestry is one of the most significant and important things to a Quarian.

Actually, it looks more like a normal hand that had shadow in the middle? If you want to see a real 3-fingered hand, I can oblige, since my left hand has 3 fingers from birth. ;)
Missing the pointer finger and pinkie finger, so yeah. But I'd say my hand looks more like Nightcrawler's (from the comics, not a suit) than a "fat" ninja turtle's. :P

I think Solduri is referring to the picture of 'classic' Tali I posted above, whereas you're referring to the picture that's floating around of her unmasked I believe - which does indeed look like a regular human hand that's partly hidden in shadow.

This is the discrepancy I was pointing out earlier.
