And make no mistake, Quarian appearance was retconned. The girl in the image has elf ears while the Quarians were described in terms that indicated their ears were either smaller than a humans, or internal. The phrase used was "what passes for the Quarian version of an ear." The Quarians were also described as having a thicker skin or hide than humans by Grunt. Now they have human skin.

I don't really see how "what passes for the quarian version of an ear" suggests its shape or form.

That description originates in a book where the Quarians are being described from a human character's point of view. For a human to mentally say, "what passes for the Quarian version of an ear," indicates that the Quarians didn't have ears like ours. An elf ear is just a longer version of a human ear.

Based on what little I can see, her ears aren't that "elfish".

You also have to take into account that at the time of that line in the novel being written, the appearance of quarians had not yet been decided.

What are you all ****ing about?

From the ME1 Codex:
"Quarians are generally shorter and of slighter build than humans. Quarians have an endoskeleton, lips, teeth, and two eyes with eyelids and tear ducts; they also have three thick fingers on both hands which include a thumb and an index finger, as well as three toes on each foot. Their lower legs are bowed backwards significantly, compared to asari or humans. Aside from hands and legs, their general body shape and sexual dimorphism is similar to humans. Their ears or ear analogues differ in a noticeable fashion from those of humans, with references made to "what [passes] for the quarian version of an ear"."

Derr, they're similar to humans, and have been since ME1. There are some pretty noticable differences though, like their eyes, ears, and three fingered hands. Plus, if you had a full body shot, the legs are definitely different.

I can normally see a reason to complain, but you can't considering how they were described in ME1.

So will we actually see Tali's face in ME3 and not just a photo of her? Will there be another love scene in some Bio-clean room or something? I mean the pic is nice (I like it) but dang.

Personally I thought her skin might have been a deep lavender, but I'm perfectly fine with this.

Cosigned. People can complain all they want, that's their right, but I'm perfectly fine with this. Especially considering the ending of the game, I wouldn't be surprised if in future games Quarians were seen without their suits. I like what they've established as the standard.

Okay so I have seen a real picture of her face from the game and I am a bit disappointed by how human she looks. Does anyone else feel tge same?

Well look at that! She is easy on the eyes, our little techgirl. A tad to human, if you ask me.

Now we know why Shep had that big grin on his face in 2. Maybe, once upon a time, I will actually make a Shep that romances her. Just can't get my eyes away from Ash :D

That was just the tint of the visor. I was expecting pale for that reason. She reminds a little of a Night Elf which was my best case scenerio. At least those people who said she had a pig nose will have to keep quiet now Image IPB

Not at all. It fits with Shepards reaction in ME2.

From what I can see, her ears look similar to those of a Vorta, but that's just my take on it from what i can see in that pic.

BioWare took the easy way out, but hey, why should I complain? She's smoking.

I know she still looks decent and I actually thought about his smile in mass effect 2, but I still wanted Tali to look more........ un- human-ish. However I am happy the Bioware didn't make Tali not show her face at all.

This. This. A thousand times THIS.

Codex said they was human-ish, and Sheps reaction was 'B'ZAM!'

Asari look human. Nearly every alien in Star Trek looks human. It's a convention.

And there's some good reasons for that. In terms of TV shows, it's easier to manage a humanoid alien: it's easy with makeup and various other things.

For games, creating characters that can roughly use the same animations, fit into similar armor, or can generally be "swapped" model-wise, this saves a lot of time and money.

As for Tali... if the picture on the front page is correct, I'm all over that. :)

Edited to add: that being said, yes, this was, I think, a rather safe choice. However, it's also one that will please a lot of fans. There was no way to make everyone happy with her, there's just been too much build up to that particular reveal. With the amount of stuff they're doing that is a bit of a risk in terms of fan reaction, sticking with a few easy hits isn't necessarily a bad strategy here and there. It's about balance. :: shrug ::

Is the only way to see Tali's face via romancing her?

Not bad.

I'd still prefer something more alienish-like, but hey, beggars can't be choosers.

Hggnh now I don't know whether to spoil it or not. Thanks though.

EDIT: Well I just clicked the link and I still don't know what Quarians look like due to how blurry it is.

I don't know if it's been brought up at any point in the last seventeen pages -apologies if it has- but wasn't there a piece of fanart floating around about a year ago that looks incredibly similar to (although admittedly not exactly like) her final form?
