Well in multiplayer mode you have the option to change your quarians skin color. It comes in some unique, pale shades, so maybe Tali just looks really human because she happens to be one of the quarians with milk white skin?

In a way, it takes a uniqueness out of Tali's character. What seemed to distinguish her from the Asari....is that she had a more alien appearance....now however....her face looks even more human then an Asari. She is now just an extra space elf....out of the so many in scifi.

Wasn't there literally a planet of dudes who basically were humans, but 1920's gangsters? And a planet of dudes who were basically humans, but literal ****s (or was that a time travel episode)? Just sayin, Trek might not be the best model for deciding what kind of alien is "too human" to make sense in a SF setting.
