Because we spent 12 hours following her on twitter as the Reapers invaded.

This was intense. I felt a connection to Emily Wong, just a perky report who wanted to do good and thus was really likable in how in her own small way she wanted to better the galaxy. She didn't want to blow the Collectors or defeat Saren, she just wanted to run stories exposing crime figures to the public eye and prove that the Citadel air control was edging close to disaster. Small little things we see people try to do everyday in order to build a better world. And then those Reaper ****bags killed her. My name is Commander Shepard, you killed Emily Wong, prepare to die.

Exactly, and at that point she couldn't escape - the drone ships were closing in on her. So she had either the choice of dying in terror or dying while defiant and she chose the latter.

Her dying while risking her life on the job is valiant but, all that ramming stuff is just jumping the shark. Female Space Larry King charges a Reaper as a last act of defiance ... 
I know hating everything Bioware seems 'en vogue' these days, and I've liked pretty much everything I've heard about the game so far at the danger of being considered a 32 year old 'fanboy'... This is just laughable... literally. Thankfully, it's just a Twitter fluff thing... I doubt they'd pull anything like that in the game.

Its just a story they put together for marketing. Not spoilers from in game
