I can't authorize the From Ashes DLC, so it won't let me access my savegame I just made

Same. Who could have known that the servers would get loaded on launch night? If only they had known, they could have prepared.

Not working for me either, it keeps saying : error: mass effect 3 servers unavailable please try again later.

EDIT:

possible fix: If you're like me then you didn't realize there was an update for origin. Exit out of origin and let it update, then try to go back in, I'll let you know if it worked for me.

how do you update origin?

You restart it, if an update is available, it will update itself.

A reliable 100% solution is to force Origin into offline mode by disabling your Internet connection, but this will prevent you from updating your Galactic Readiness and, obviously, playing multiplayer.
