Additionally, if you wish to extract your save files -- I can provide instruction for doing so -- and send them to me, I can examine them on my own system to determine whether they are actually importable.

How would you extract them? I have acess to my ME2 saves on my hardrive and they are all under 3 MB. Please help I just wanna play! :?

You need only follow steps 1 through 11 to extract.  I recommend following step 12 also, however.

If you wish to go this route and you would like me to test your file, send me a PM when you've extracted it and I'll give you contact information for sending it to me.

Flash Drive is one thing, a 20 dollar game is something different.

Mass Effect 2 will be required to "fix" the save, in some circumstances. It will not be required to extract a save file.

Modio has never given me problems; when exactly does this problem occur?

Most XBox 360 save files cannot be "Copied".  The "Move" option will allow you to transport the save to a USB device, which will allow you to browse it in Modio.  This will remove it from the hard drive but, once finished with examining it in Modio, you can opt to "Move" it back.

How do you miss something like this? Really is unacceptable, if you were a new comer you'd not notice, but because I've been loyal to BioWare and bought every game I'm penalised! I understand you need new people, but not at the expense of your core market!

Last BioWare game I buy at launch, for Dragon Age 3 I think I'll leave it until is discounted and bugs have been fixed!

Extremely poor show, won't be getting my vote for Publisher of the Year.

Bioware, you guys blew it. I shelved the game. $80 sitting idle on the shelf until you fix this. I invested over 200 hours between ME1, ME2, and all the DLC. I feel cheated. It's been my Shepard since the beginning. This is a great way for you to reward those of us that invested from the beginning. If you had spent less time on non-essential (for a single player RPG) online and Kinect features, maybe you could have made sure this worked. Your priorities were wrong, and I feel tricked and cheated.

THIS! Can't be stated enough. I did the exact same thing, feel the exact same way. Used to LOVE Bioware, can't stand EAware.

If you are able to confirm that your save loads in Mass Effect 2 and that the suicide mission was completed and survived in that save, then the inability to import that save into Mass Effect 3 is a legitimate technical problem.

If you no longer possess a copy of Mass Effect 2 and you do not attempt to even temporarily acquire a copy, then you cannot reasonably claim to know your problem to be a technical fault with the game, because you cannot verify the continued existence of a viable save file. While the problem may be a technical problem with the game itself, the problem could also be caused by a console error rendering the save file corrupted or otherwise inaccessible, or by a human error such as accidental deletion of the file.

Without attempting to load the save in Mass Effect 2, you cannot claim to know for certain which is the case.

Yep. Finished ME2, survived the suicide mission, still have the save files. Played and finished The Arrival DLC last week. Loads fine with Shepard onboard the Normandy. Still have a copy of ME2 Collectors Edition. (Why wouldn't I?) No human error. It's a tech error with the game.

Try the procedure detailed at http://www.gamefaqs....fect-3/62162976
I have, after extensive solicitation, received one confirmation from an individual reporting success in importing a saved game into Mass Effect 3 after following those steps (the person also reports certain plot table values being incorrect, but I suspect that to be a different issue).

Let's see:

I obtained a imported Mass Effect character to Mass Effect 2 code by starting new game importing the ME2 Character after finishing the game:

Complete ME1
Import ME1 Character to ME2
Complete ME2 with the same character
Import ME2 Completed game character to a new game

I obtained a face code and tried it in ME3.

The fun thing is that in hair color, there is missing numbers that cannot use. I think that is the reson to give problems importing.

In addition, the code makes diferences between ME2 and ME3 character, in hair color, for example.

This is the "Face import bug".

There is another bug (it seems) in the importing game decisions, but that's not my case.

Hope this helps. :)

I may have found a solution for the import problem (the one where no saves show up at all) that does not require a copy of Mass Effect 2. Anyone with an interest may PM me for further information.

I have also come to the same conclusion. From the facial code I am currently missing 4 options that I can not adjust in order to replicate my previously played shepard. Based on that code that I have its eyes, hair style, brow and one of the mouth sub bar codes that are unmistakenly and unfathomably missing. The only way I can see the bug passing beta/testing is if they only used the default fem/male shepard's thru their trials. But as to the facial options being absent, I can only surmise that one of the coders inadvertently removed them by accident; There by breaking import due to missing values. That's what usually happens when you rush development.....

Same here. I think literally everyone who had a custom shep from the first is affected. Absolutely ridiculous. I'm scared to try that solution that dimensio spoke about as I don't want it getting corrupted or lost! I literally cannot start this game without having my custom shep. Looks like MP all weekend then!

My solution is useful only for players who are unable to find any saved games in the Mass Effect 3 importer.  It will not correct an inability to import a Mass Effect 1 face.

Done properly, the method that I recommend carries no risk of data loss.
