That file should be located under ".\\Dragon Age\\data\\DAUpdater.xml" Check if it is there. If it is present try moving the mod to that folder and install it from there, assuming the installer uses an EXE file. Possibly someone hard-coded the location, or perhaps the mod only checks the local directory. I didn't use mods yet so i'm afraid i cannot be more specific,

You haven't provided much information about your problem or your system/install. At least tell people what your OS is. It is not possible to diagnose a problem from one sentence.
If the DAUpdater.xml file is in the folder you should be working. There should be 3 *.xml documents however. DAOriginsConfig.xml, DAOriginsLauncher.xml, and DAUpdater.xml.
If your game file system is corrupt the best option for you is to reinstall. Its a pain I know, but its the fastest route.

Your saves etc will not be overwritten. If you want a backup just make a copy of your ..\\My Documents\\BioWare\\Dragon Age\\Characters folder.

Thanks, DAjunkie, for the info about making a "just-in-case" backup of my characters before uninstalling. According to EA customer support, the Dragon Age Upload File is supposed to be listed in SERVICES.MSC (type SERVICES.MSC in the Windows XP, SP3 Start/Run window). It isn't listed there for me, so EA suggested that I uninstall and reinstall the game from my retail store DVD, repatch it, and then see if that fixes the problem (which is that no Red Dragon Armor appears in any of the DLC windows). The three files you mentioned, however, are all in the DragonAge/data/ folder, so I don't know what's going on. What with a flickering problem caused by something that conflicts with my NVidia display driver (EVGA Geforce 8600 GTS with most recent update), I've decided to give DAO a rest until they get the bugs worked out. Have gone back to NWN2, which causes me no problems at all.

When I first install DAO the updater was present, but when I reinstalled the game after have to replace the hard drive that failed, everything went aok except the updater is missing. I can find the file on the disk but it is not present on the hardrive in the docs folder. Is there an easy fix to this? I have the feeling I needed a program like winzip or similar to have made this work. Unfortunately, I had not reinstalled that program as I found out tryng to install the mod manager that I was uisng before the catastrophe.
