I tried to look for this option in coalesced.bin, and the only one found was is bioengine.ini systemsettings\\filmgrain set to "True"

why do people care about film grain
why do you guys get so upset that we want the option for film grain to return? Would it hurt you a lot to know that there is an option for film grain effect in the game? You can leave it off, why should we not have the option to turn it on? Everyone would be happy. You could show some "gamer camaraderie" and support us, it wouldnt hurt you at all.

So... Yeah, removing this was a poor decision. I'm going to chalk it up with the rest of the poor decisions.

Same here, i can't stand film grain, always turn it off first in every game that has it.

And about the holstering thing, it has already been explained by a dev on another posts in this forums that was due to memory.

What a joke. Even since EA got involved it seems ME3 has gone to crap. The first two were fantastic. Now everything that I'm reading and seeing is basically setting me up to expect ME3 to be disappointing. I played the demo and thought it looked hideous. I figured it was just the demo, seems I was wrong. Film grain was always something I had on and found very appealing. To leave it out is just being lazy and cheap (sounds like ME3 summed up). Despite what is being said, I blame EA wholeheartedly. I'm guessing because EA forced the muliplayer on Bioware, they had to cut corners and costs. What should have been the best game in the series, the one that everything was building up to, it just going to go down in history as just another mediocre big budget title.
*BEEEEEEEEP* WRONG
EA bought BioWare after the release of Mass Effect 1. ME2 and ME3 both were made entirely under EA.

I wanted to reply to him too, but I lack the physical energy to argue with EAters... people tend to forget that this world runs on money, and without these money grabbing corporations, many of the greatest games would have never gotten published.

Is there any chance someone could mod film grain in? I mean if its just a texture layed over the screen it shouldnt be too hard, should it?
If it is not procedural, then it has to be a massive alpha image that cycle through 60+ frames of animation, and that is insanely expensive on a high res screen.
Procedural however, should be less demanding but probably needs to be coded (But being the UE3, it is not that hard to make a material that simulates it).

If anything the grain would be the most appropriate for Mass Effect 3! You know, with the end of the world going on and all...

I've always played with the film grain effect, I also don't believe what a player would say (they took it out cause of ram) unless a bioware makes a comment then post it their self.
They did say the weapon holsters were removed cos of that, it's on these boards (but you need to searc hfor the topic), and I have been told the same reply was given for film grain.
Problem is that Bioware essential answers don't get stickied.
