If there would be an option of film grain you can still turned it off!
ME1 with film grain and low contrast looks amazing to me.
Im such a disappointed how ME3 looks and how huge stepback it is.

They took it out along with stuff like the holster animation in order to save memory on consoles.
Got a link of BioWare stating that?
Didn't think so.
Consoles are underpowered so it seems logical

Anyone figure out how to tweak the files to get the grain effect going? Because I'm pretty sure those of us who miss it from ME1 and ME2 will have to do it ourselves.

I think re-adding film grain would really help make ME3 look better, so I would definitely be happy to have an option for that, even PAY for that!
Think about it Bioware, an artistic package for ME3, for those who miss the look from the previous games (because obviously, some players like the "plastic" look), shouldn't be too expensive to deploy, so probably very profitable...

With Mass Effect 2 I thought they got the balance right and so left it on.
Mass Effect 3 does have a far more 'plastic' quality to it, which I think film grain would have helped hide.

To me, it is unquestionably obvious that the original game is far superior in terms of general art direction, even if it shows that it is already 4 years older than ME3. It may not be the best looking, but clearly the one in which the best artistic choices were made. In fact, I think it is one the most stylish games I have ever played. It was an artistic statement on its own, much like Wipeout was back in the days of the old Playstation. It felt so fresh and unusually tasteful.
Anyway, if many people agree, now that they're done with the EC, maybe they'll consider this as a DC?

Film grain in ME2 was too soft for me - I play on a 24" PC monitor with high resolution - so it'd probably be good to be able to ajust that too, depending on your hardware and display settings.

I agree. I just wish ME1 was on the PS3. I have a 360 and a reliable PC, but I'd feel more compelled to play the game over and over again on the PS3...
And I can't tell a damn difference between having film grain and not having film grain.

Wait a sec... people actually like the film grain? I think it makes games look terrible! Especially in ME1.

This is not really for debate, as people have different tastes, but given the fact that is was available in the first games, and there - if i'm not mistaken - by default, meaning as an original intented 'the way it should look" feature, I don't see why it shouldn't be available as a customizable option, this way, every player can personalize its experience.

I love it. It covers up many of the game's graphical limitations.breyant wrote...

I for one preferred it turned off, i like a good clear picture.
However it is odd they removed it, given it was defaulted like that in 1 & 2.

This. I tried it with both in ME1, it looks better with it. There should at least be an option to turn it back on.
