I just tried to purchase the new Mass Effect 3 DLC, "From Ashes" through Origin. *insert gripe here about still having to buy stupid Bioware points* So, I go through the ordering process, log into my paypal, click "Pay Now", and BAM! Origin crashes.

Check my email account associated with my PayPal account and see that I have been charged the $10 I intended to pay in order to purchase the 800 Bioware points necessary to get the DLC. So, re-launch Origin and go to the Purchase DLC function again, hoping that my payment managed to get me the points, even if it didn't complete the DLC purchase. Nope. No points associated with my account.

Look, if you are going to go through the trouble of having some stupid points purchasing system instead of a straight-forward store-front taking straight-forward money, make sure the damn thing works before you take people's money! <_<

[edit]
Ok, now I'm confused. Went back to the Points store from within Origin. Decided to check out the "Manage Accounts" link. It shows my account activity and shows what appear to be 3 failed tries to purchase points (all three say "UNCONFIRMED"). The second one corresponds with the receipt email I received from PayPal.

So, I'm not clear. Have I been charged or not? Will I have to wait to see if the charge shows up on my bank account?

[edit the 2nd]
Managed to get a purchase to go through and bought the DLC. So, I have 2 receipt emails from PayPal. I will have to see if both end up as charges on my bank account or if only the successful one does. If it is the latter, then my complaint above is moot, and my real complaint becomes that this system is overly complicated and unclear with what is happening. This combined with its many instabilities makes for a bad shopping experience.

IMNSHO, the Points store should be ditched and all sales should just be direct through Origin.

You and me both!!!! This just happened to me when purchasing bioware points for the Mass Effect Multiplayer through Origin. Hit pay now, and boom origin crashed, now I have a charge, and Origins says it is unconfirmed....

I am about to raise a humongous stink over this if I am not compensated quickly...

Same here ... the first timed out as that damn ACCEPT button wasn't accessable ... only after I found out that I have to click into the text and scroll down with the arrow keys ... but the first time it was too late ...

So Bioware charged me TWO TIMES for Ashes DLC ....

There's an issue for sure. Right now you can't buy points with PayPal through Origin. The option is greyed out.

Same here. Bought points just now, charged in paypal, charged on bank statement, no points in account. No idea where to go for support.

I was already on the fence about this day-1 dlc stuff, I've been trying to justify it, and this stuff doesn't help.

Edit: My points seem to have been added properly now.
I would have felt a lot more at ease if there was some kind of warning saying it might take up to half an hour to complete.

Same here, Ive bought 800 points via paypal ingame, at the last step origin crashed, the money got transferred from my account and no points were added.

When I check my account (same page where you buy the points in game) it does show Ive bought 800 points but the payment is labeled unconfirmed..

But worst of all, there is not a single clue on anywhere who or what to contact to get this resolved.

And it magically got resolved a few minutes after posting this (just took more than an hour waiting..)

Tried through Origin, got the same result as the OP.

Then tried through Bioware's site, got instant results.

I know that was silly, but I'm impatient. I believe it is an issue with the Origin platform as opposed to the direct website-- the middleman's fault, that being Origin.

I got the same thing bought points through origin and didn't get them. It has been over an hour for me guess i will wait till tomorrow before looking at ways to fix this.

Edit:Well my Purchase says unconfirmed but my bank account is processing the payment and paypal has already completed it. So I will wait till my bank charges me for it. I'll be fine with getting my money back cause the transaction was cutoff. If I don't I guess I will go through paypal and dispute the charge.

Same. Calling EA to ask wtf.

UPDATE

EA was quick to give me my points after the call and added some discount code for a next Origin purchase. Doubt I'll ever use it but meh.

Oh see with me either i get stuck at loading, or it does load and I get sent to that stupid Opps Sorry page.

I submitted a ticket on the support page and all I get some copy and paste response of please give us more information on your issue. Have they ever bothered to look at the forums or maybe try Google? They would get all the information that they need....

One other question I have why is there a live online help option if there is no live online help?

Sorry didn't intent to rant but it seems to be nothing but problems anymore with these companies.

I have got exaclty the same issue.
Trying to find the a support link for Origin is a nightmare as its well buried.

I bought 1200 points, still no sign of it. Origin crashed after making payment, then game quit cause there is no origin.

Is there anyway to resolve this, as I agree, it seems noone is interested in laying out proper support channels.

EAs desk people told me on the phone they know about the problem and they can give you the points manually if you contact them and add the Paypal receipt.

Hi,

I have already tried that, I sent a support request over 24 hours ago (which they promise to answer within 24 hours).
I attached transaction id, and paypal payment receipt, still nothing.
It seems, they think avoidance is the better than either helping or sorting problem.

I thought Bioware would be all over these type of problems, as it reflects badly on them as you are forced to install Origin or you cant play the game.
Im starting to get frustrated. I work in support myself, I would never let it get to this, I would be all over it until its sorted.

EDIT:- Anyone know the proper support links for Origin?

EDIT:- Just phoned them, seems computers dont work weekends and its unconfirmed until an actual person checks you have paid, lol.
Since phoning, my points status on Origin has changed to OPEN, what ever that means.

Sigh, no replies to my tickets, they havent even bothered answering back, its 3 days now.

Edit:- Do bioware or ea staff actually come here. I getting really fedup now, I was told on the phone, it would be sorted today, yet, I have had no reply at all.
Im back at work now, so I would'nt be able to phone them, as by the time I get home, they are closed.
I have never had such bad support, I have provided proof I have paid, yet they do nothing.

EDIT2:- Just to update, managed to phone again and they manually added the points.
They did say, that if I received more, I was to tell them, which is fair enough.

Same here- got a bill, but no points.

Support said the purchase has not been confirmed, which is odd since both Paypal and my bank seem to think the purchase has been completed. I'll probably let the issue lie for 48 hours then ring them again.

Update on my case. I called EA after my bank account had processed the payment and I did indeed lose money to EA. So I called them and even though it says complete on my paypal the man on the phone told me it still hadn't gone through to them from paypal and to wait till the 15th before calling them back again. So instead I opened a dispute through paypal. Something has to happen I am not just forking out money to the black hole of the internet.

It's worrying that nobody from Bioware is answering this specific thread. Why should I ever try to buy DLC again?
