 Hi.
So, in GamerSettings, I have my save location set to:
D:\\BioWare\\Mass Effect 3\\Save

And yet, it does not register that anything is saved there.
I can save my game, but it does not recognize that there is anything to Load, even though the Load Game option is lit up.

I have tried this three times. Has anyone else run up against this problem?

I have the same problem. I checked the Save dir and it only saved the local_profile.sav.

So it's not just me.

I had the same problem with ME2, but writing in the Save Location fixed it. I'm reinstalling right now. Hopefully the internets comes up with a fix soon.

What do you mean with writing?

Going into BIOGame\\GamerSettings and manually typing in the save location.

Did it work for you after reinstalling? I reinstalled it but still the same problem.

Same problem.

EDIT: I think the root of the problem is that it keeps deleting any file within the SAVE folder. Which is weird. I've tried talking it off Read-Only to no avail.

Same here.
Tried to rewrite MassEffect3Config,  even tried to shut down the antivirus - still no result. It's becoming really annoying.
Hope someone will find the solution. Unbelievable that such game acts like this.

Currently talking to Origin Tech.

So far, no solutions.

I think the game has issues taht the save dir is on another drive than C.
I even tried the mklink command but it didn't work.

Yeah, this is the exact problem I had with ME2. The exact one.

The issue here is that the solution for ME2 does not work with ME3.

What's weirder is that the Load Game recognizes that you have *something* saved, but when it goes to the Career screen, it shows nothing. I think it's reading the Local_Profile.sav file.

When I manually try ot make "____ ## ______ Date" folders, it self-deletes them.

EDIT: Origin Tech got back to me, said they are working on fixing the problem, as it is one of the known issues with the game.

Gentlemen, I am having the exact same issue. I also had the issue with ME2.

I have my Documents on Drive D, and ME2 & ME3 can't seem to handle it. I remember editing a string in ME2 to fix the issue. In ME3 the same fix doesn't work.

Not being able to load or save games is a game breaker!

Hm yes same problem. Played 4 hours into the game, and it never saved for me. :(
Oh well, I'll keep trying solutions. I'll keep you guys posted.

Maybe it's possible to edit the MassEffect3Config.xml in Data folder.
Especially this line
<string name="USERDATA_DIR">${CSIDL_PERSONAL}\\BioWare\\Mass Effect 3</string>
I tried to change the path to D:\\BioWare\\Mass Effect 3. But with no effect. Though I'm not so good with xml. Maybe someone else could try.

Could the problem be that you need to have both Mass Effect 3 folders in the same hard drive? (the one in Documents and the one in Origin Games?)
I'll try that and see if it works.

Origin Tech told me to try back tonight. It sounds like this is one of the things they are currently working on.

UPDATE: My case has been upped to Senior Staff.

Great. At least you got through to them.
I am amazed that even by linking the support tech to this forum they still didn't get what I was talking about.

I'm going to be calling them again after dinner and my current contracting job. Will update with results.

UPDATE: They will be e-mailing me later tonight/tomorrow morning with an update.

@Bryy_Miller: Thank you. They'd better be fast.
I tried manually rerouting all paths in MassEffect3Config.xml to drive C now, but no effect whatsoever.
I've run out of ideas.

Well, it sounds like it's not something we'd be able to fix on our end.

I did find a work-a-round that is very time consuming. I installed to my laptop, and started a game with Cloud saves enabled. Then saved. Then went back to my Desk Top. My desktop was able to see the game and save and load (what appears) to be normally.

At least I have been able to load and save that one career.

Heh. I've found the solution!
It's very simple. Just create a new Windows User (with administration rights). Don't change anything. The default path for My Documents should be on drive C: now in default folder.
Launch MassEffect3Config.exe and MassEffect3 itself under this new user.
Finally enjoy the game!
I hope I'm clear enough. Tell me if it doesn't work.
