I have the physical copy of Mass Effect 3 Collectors Edition. I cant even play the game because stupid Origin keeps opening and downloading instead of installing via the game disc. I have tried all the troubleshooting options with no success. How do I fix this?
Unable to install via game disc. Origin keeps opening and downloading game!!!

Hey Dractamer,
Installing from disc will always prompt Origin to help facilitate the install. Hope this clears things up!

It is downloading via origin though. I am getting 1.2mbs download speeds. Why should I have to download the game when I have the physical CD's? On my computer it should not take 2 hours to install a 10gig game.

Really disappointing when legitimate customers get punished by software like Steam and Origins.

Sadly we are going to have to install the game. So much for PRE-ORDERING and picking up at midnight. Thanks EA for implementing a program that punishes your loyal customers and then providing no fixes or support for on launch.

They better release a patch for this. Cause if I have to do this with all future installs I am gonna be pissed.

I thought mine was downloading as well, but it asked for disc 2 at 51%. Though I was getting disc transfer speeds at better than 7mb/s. took about 30 mins total.

I am at 80% after 1hr 45mins. No disc 2 asked for still.

So is there a work around for this or what? I've been waiting on origins downloading for the past 3 hours. This is bs.

I'd expect this from Bethesda, Blizzard, or DICE, but seriously BioWare? Can we get a response on this?

Installing from disk in offline mode or dissabled Origin should work fine, I guess and then activate it...

I'll try it, thanks.

I had the same problem but what I did was close Origin and eject my disc. Then I put it back again. Now it is installing normally.

I wish that worked. It keeps prompting Origin. This is honestly a retarded setup. This is the last Bioware product I buy.

I got the game from Amazon took 2 hours to download it, then launched.. forced to install Origin, then forced ro re-downlod it from EA. (3.5 hours later it installed)
Silly, but nothing compared to the crazy amount of bugs in the game.

I also just had this issue and went hunting down the Customer Support line.
By the way, DO NOT TALK TO THE AGENT ON LIVE CHAT!! I don't know where they are or who they are, but they do NOT speak English. They try... but that's all they do.
Anyway, open Origin, go to settings (top right), then click on "Delete all game installers". Close origin and log out, restart your machine.
That should work...

Same problem as OP. I tried werrick's solution, still prompting Origin. Wtf did I get the physical copy for if it always is going to prompt for a dl from Origin? Would love a solution or at least acknowledgment of the issue.

I had the demo already installed.
I pre-ordered the discs but was hoping that the game would only need a key to activate.
It installed from the discs instead, leaving the demo.
I have a 60Mb connection so downloading might have been faster.
The game took 2 HOURS to install from the discs!

Origin is a disaster and I've been having issues with it since BF3 launched in Oct. I'm installing ME3 right now from disc with no issues (no prompts for any downloads).
