Tried launching after giving up trying to bypass it and now I find that my shortcut to it is broken. Strange, so I open it manually and nothing launches.....
Seriously, even once/if I get this to work, I'm never buying another Origin exclusive game again. This is the one and definitely now last time I do so.

The retail disc are useless in my opinion because they still need to connect to Origin to authenticate then if something goes wrong and Origin malfunctions like the OP and the others you are forced to connect to steam and download the whole 10.5 GB!
I hope Bioware can sort this out since this is a foobar for them.

I wish that worked. It keeps prompting Origin. This is honestly a retarded setup. This is the last Bioware product I buy.
This is not Bioware's fault, they are some extremely talented people, the problems you are having can be attributed to EA forcing the ORIGIN software on us as a form of Copy protection.
IF you are going to take that stance say you aren't going to buy any more EA games. Personally issues aside I am quite happy with Bioware as a whole.

Bioware has still something to do with the Origin problem since its an EA company. This three entities are all related which means No EA, No Origin, No Bioware, no Mass Effect 3, savvy?

It wouldn't STOP asking me for disc 2. I put in the disc to install it, it started installing from Origin, so now even though it wants disc 2, it doesn't detect it. I hope this doesn't become a problem later.

Fair enough, It's the last Bioware or EA product I buy. I stand by my stance that this is an incredibly dumb setup. Why have 2 disks for a game, then have you download it anyways? I should've just gone through Steam.

1.) Install Origin
2.) Let Origin Update to the current Version
3.) Restart Origin
4.) Enter your Mass Effect 3 Code in Origin
5.) Don't start the Download, but close Origin with a right click on the Origin Icon in the Systray -> Exit
6.) Restart setup.exe from Disc 1, it will start Origin and the Installation from the DVDs

Besides, Origin says it's beta software. Why use (read: require) beta software for so many key functions? It doesn't really inspire confidence, and I have a feeling many of these issues are related to it not being entirely finished or well-tested.

It is downloading via origin though. I am getting 1.2mbs download speeds. Why should I have to download the game when I have the physical CD's? On my computer it should not take 2 hours to install a 10gig game.
This
Seriously do You guys at Bioware just NO LONGER CARE? Its what it feels like when a Game from a HARD DISK will take two hours too install because it will NOT READ THE DISK TO INSTALL. Between that and All the Code issues people are having... Bioware do you Just no longer care?

Hi guys,
I Just experienced the same problem and this above worked for me. To explain it better:
A) Tell it where to install the game when orgin asks. (Make sure its not updating any other games if you intending to shift the folder somewhere else). E.G. I still had BF3 to install because I gave up last year and could not care about playing it, it refused to install off the DVD (Yeah I was mad ) and refused to let origin download it for me because I have better things to do (Up yours EA). Call it being stuborn or whatever and since refused to buy an EA game. But I was not prepared to do the same with ME3 and had preorded ME3 before buying BF3.
C) Go to My computer and use explorer to locate the setup.exe on DVD1, double click it and it will go through the process of installing againing, click next when its askes to install in what language, click the fancy ME3 orgin link to install. It will appear to be downloading through origin launcher but its installing from the DVD drive. Sometimes it pauses to get information from the net. First DVD took 15mins to 56% before it asked for DISC2. DISC2 was rather slow between 56% to 59% for me as it was downloading from the net before it used DVD.
D) There is a 70mb patch file after it installs the main game, so you have to wait a little... but not as bad as the initial 10Gb it wanted me to do...
My Two cents
Also Email EA Customer support or complaints section and let them know they are bloody idiots with their SECUROM protection or whatever the F it is. If people want to pirate this game, they will find away around the stupid protection. STOP treating the majority of paying customers as pirates/theives/criminals and creating BS issues like this one. There is nothing worse than a fan drolling/waiting for over two years and they get slapped with this installation issue. Your just destroying your gaming base in some cases and forcing the gamer to adapt to electronic forms of the game

I tried BioHazardous27's solution, but it keeps asking me for my activation code everytime I try to run the setup file - which won't work because I've already registered my game, so it tells me the code is already in use and asks me to enter a valid code.
God, EA/Bioware, get it sorted out...

I would recommend all of us to file a complaint directly to Origin since they are ruining the Mass Effect 3 experience, not Bioware.
