Know a lot of you still cannot get it to work.

Found this thread you guys should follow when they/if they list a proper solution.  It was posted today.

"Same issue here. I have bought the physical copy of Mass Effect 3. Trying to install it with the DVD goes like this:
Origin opens, i log in and register my copy of ME3. ME3 appears in my games.
ME3 wont install after that point unfortunately, and I try a second
time - this time its telling me that the game registering code is
already used (yes, by me), and at that point I'm unable to get past the
game registration, making me unable to install from DVD.

The "Download" button is available and when i push it it starts to
download the game from the internet. Its running at exactly the speed I
have from my internet provider, so its NOT installing from the DVD,
even though the DVD is in the PC and ready to be used.

I have tried this before with the Battlefield 3 installation,
pushing download would actually install from DVD, but it is not what it
is doing this time.

Two things i would like to see improved:

1: Make the game installable without an internet connection after I
have registered it - after registring the game to my Origin account, I
should not be forced to be online to install it from a DVD.

2: Make another install button in Origin; Besides the misleading "Download" button, an "Install from DVD" button would be nice." -

I also just had this issue and went hunting down the Customer Support line.

By the way, DO NOT TALK TO THE AGENT ON LIVE CHAT!! I don't know where they are or who they are, but they do NOT speak English. They try... but that's all they do.

Anyway, open Origin, go to settings (top right), then click on "Delete all game installers". Close origin and log out, restart your machine.

That should work...

Yeah they cannot help at all and this entire install has been the longest and most frustrating game install I've ever done.

Terribly stupid way to have done this.  Terribly terribly stupid and in all
honesty will likely be my final ORIGIN purchase.  The stupidity of
giving us DVD's, then prompting an ORIGIN download which for some of us eats away at our monthly bandwidth is just absurd.

Then comes all the stuff that doesn't work correctly like registering DLC codes, the multiplayer shop not being able to process purchases etc.

Thanks BioHazardous.
Unfortunately, once they find a solution(if ever), most of us have already wasted 5+ hours downloading the game.

BioHazardous27, that's exactly the problem I have. Too bad there's no solution to it yet though. Seems like all games I buy nowadays have serious installation problems. :/

Their efforts to curb piracy hurts the customer, not the pirates who will pirate anyways and not have to deal with any of the hassle.

I have the solution.
1) Start Downloading the Game for a few seconds.
2) Abort Download. ..There is now a Folder created in your Origin: "Mass Effect 3"
3) Shut down Origin
4) There is an Archive-File on the CD which you can unpack via Winrar. Unpack this File into your Mass Effect 3 folder.
5) Start Origin. Hit the Intall Button. Your ready to go

What ended up working for me was completely uninstalling Origin from my PC.  If you then run the ME3 install, it will install Origin as part of the process then it'll run from the disc.

If Origin is ALREADY intalled, it will NOT install from the disc.

Very frustrating, and an embarrassing bug for EA here.  Horrendous.

As was said, once again, the legit buyers get screwed over while the pirates are unaffected.

here is my problem.

i put the dvd. the origin made me activate the game, which i did. but then it gave an error. i said what the hell man and tried to install again.

but origin, being a marvelous program as it is, tries to activate the game even though it is activated and present in my games list during the installation.

meh. the reason i bought retail was to avoid downloading

Having the same problem. I've just got home from work, put the disk in and registered my key and then the install failed.

I've tried to launch the installer again and I keep getting asked for my CD-Key which I am told is already in use ... BY ME!!!!!

I'm really annoyed that I now need to spend 11 hours downloading a game i own the CD for. Why can't the install be like Star Wars:TOR where you install as normal and then it links to your Origin account?

Until things like this are sorted, Origin will remain a joke!

Last time I pre-purchase an Origin game - i'll wait and see in future.

It wouldn't STOP asking me for disc 2. I put in the disc to install it, it started installing from Origin, so now even though it wants disc 2, it doesn't detect it. I hope this doesn't become a problem later.

Was having this same problem, until I switched Origin to Offline Mode.  As soon as I did that, it picked right up with the install.

Lol, im trying like for 2 hours, but i give up. Im downloading it, pissed with bioware, EA, Origin, Wolverine, God.

It doesnt matter if its origin fault, EA fault or bioware. The LEAST they could do, the very LEAST, is post a tutorial or a link to one. Im reallyyyy disappointed with bioware this last 3 months ....................................
