I guess all I can really expect from forum goers like you are sarcastic remarks, a condescending attitude, and closed mindedness about a game you havent even played.

Since when does a Bioware 'fan' need to play a game in order to identify everything that is wrong with it?

Sorry, my distaste comes from a fact I've seen gameplay and endings on YT. And it's a good game only if all you want from it is shooting, explosions and sexbots on high heels (EDI).

the human race makes me sick sometimes.

And it seems that your reaction when someone disagrees with you is calling names. Very mature.

And according to your logic, there should be no such thing like reviews, everyone should play the game and don't ask any questions. And god forbid watching gameplays.

good point. I should have thought a few minutes before making such a stupid remark.

I have issues with some aspects of ME3, I have posted on the boards before. But spamming 0/10 scores is really immature. It seems like they were waiting until metacritic opened the review section so they could cry like spoiled children. (I will admit that 10/10 also seems a bit unrealistic).

Could people wait until they have properly played the game before reviewing?

Could they give a balanced score, not just an emotional attack (positive or negative)?

Could they consider that metacritic could be a useful source of information if people gave fair, open-minded reviews? And that the current scores and reviews just turn it into a place to cry and rant?

Or is this expecting too much?

I think you're asking too much. People on BSN decided their opinions of the game as soon as they saw gameplay vids on Youtube--hell some people decided as soon as day-one DLC was announced. I'm glad professional game reviewers are satisfied with the game though. Image IPB very good news for Bioware.

I dont agree with number reviews. I only really take reviews to heart that give what seems to be a very well thought out, experienced, and open minded score. And I only acted negatively to your response because you immaturely brought up features of the game in a negative manner in an attempt to criticize those who like it.

And lest ye forget, reviews arent there so that you read them and what they say automatically becomes your opinion of the game. Reviews are there to help you decide if you WANT to look into a game in the first place so that you PLAY it and form an opinion ON YOUR OWN.

and hell why are you even talking to me about the validity of reviews and why they are needed when you seem to think everyone is paid off?

also, I didnt call you names. I only made acknowledgements about your attitude that seemed apparent to me.

this is ridiculous.

It pretty much is.
All those very lows scores for BioWare products started after the doctors gave the interview about broadening the target audience of their games.
Ever since then RPG players (here and elsewhere) started treating BioWare like an exgirlfriend who dumped then for a guy with a bigger "wallet".

That's not true. Like I said, ME1 and ME2 combined don't have as much negative scores as ME3 has already. Even if you add to that DAO it's still pretty much the same. So it is not "products".
Of course you can try to rationalise it all the way you want.

Since if I am not wrong the interview I am refering to happened post DA:O (Maybe even after ME2 actually) I don´t see how it could have possibly affected DA:O.
Anyway there is nothing to rationalise about user scores, they are completly pointless if you want to determine the quality of a game (not to mention the fun playing it).

I am not Bioware fan, nor 'fan', just want to know what I pay for. Since I've heard very bad things about the game, especially when it comes to things that matter to me most, I wanted to check it. So I watched gameplays on YT and got more informations. And confronted it with proffesional reviews. Guess what, they don't even bother about mentioning those flaws.

Rather, anticipation steadily sits at a fever pitch because the previous installments—Mass Effect, and especially Mass Effect 2—rate amongst the best games ever made.

THANK YOU IGN.

Especially Mass Effect 2, as it is simply the better game.

Can't wait for friday!

Yes, if the review section had been open before the game was shipped it would have been the pretty much same result. It is a pity there is no way for metacritic to make sure the reviewer actually has the game - it would also stop multiple posting by the same people.

It's funny because I called it. The trolls on meta critic were hungryy and had nothing else to do. I think user reviews should be gone completely. Too many trolls.

Looking on the other side of the coin, I can sort of understand the ranter's motivation. They simply intend to put people off buying the game (as there will be people who read reviews before deciding to buy a game) thus hoping to inflict a dent on EA's profit. This is simply a retribution to some of EA's poor practices (day 1 DLC?) and customer support (who has loads of idiots who dosent know a thing about ME).

Just wait and watch, these same group of people will not hesitate to downvote any game related to EA. It has almost nothing to do with the game, it is because of EA.

Doesn't matter in the end. Anyone who takes user reviews seriously will be able to tell which users actually played the game and which users are just trolling. But yeah it's still pretty vexing that haters gonna hateImage IPB.

So, if I don't like a game and I give it a bad score... I'm a troll? I know there is a lot of controversy with metacritic, but sometimes it seems as if every tough criticism to Bioware's games are irrational. I love Origins and Mass Effect 2; but I think Dragon Age II is horrible. I don't know what will happen to Mass Effect 3, but Bioware should take note of the fact that so much people makes the effort of criticize the game -and I'm talking of good reviews, not simple ranting "Oh, It's super cool 10/10" or "Man, tt suckz 0/10"

By the way, what's that thing about importing issues with ME1-ME2 faces? Could someone point me a link to the topic? Thanks ^_^

I hope this same logic applies with "Professional" reviews as well. Giving ME3 a 10/10 with so many deficiencies is hard to take them serious as well. Both Users and Professionals might be polar opposites on the spectrum but one thing is for sure, neither side is giving a fair review. One is massively sucking up, the other is giving a ridiculously low number to spite BioWare. This game is probably 7/10 at most. There are a lot of serous issues with the game, especially the PC Version.

funny you say that, because most people who do like the game and give it a good score are labeled as blind fanboys who just want a sci-fi COD.

Double sided coin I guess.

It seems you confused me with someone. I joined that discussion because some people were eager to dismiss any user scores from metacritic and explain them by conspiratory theories. My contribution is only a note that there was a similar situation with DA2  and let's see who was actually right about it.

No, but a lot of people doing user reviews on Metacritic are.  And people doing honest reviews tend to get lost in the melee.

This^^^^

The game doesn't deserve the user scores it's getting, but the number of 100 reviews from 'professional' reviewers is equally absurd.  The whole system is pretty much worthless now.

If you're only giving out whole numbers, it's legitimate to give a 10/10 for an truly excellent game even if it has flaws. 9.5 is normally rounded to 10

Ugh. Just get rid of number scores completely. They really suck and ruin everything =|
