Are you kidding?!

This is nothing like DA2 when it was released. This is about ten times worse than DA2's release.

You need to define what "worse" means to you since this is nothing like DA2 fiasco.

I just want to play an RPG shooter with a little bit of romance thrown in. Are there any games that do that better than Mass Effect? I mean that's what drew me to Mass Effect one in the first place. . .it's like a sci-fi novel with options.

You're of course talking about the fact that you can't import the face of your ME->ME2 Shepard?

I dont think that the RPG elements are gone, in fact I think they are better than ever. What I think the issue is, is with the lack of choice and how no matter what the choices you made in the first two games, they all seem to come together to the same ending.

I think it has more to do with problems involving crafting your own story rather than the RPG elements. I know those two kind of co-incide, but when I think RPG im thinking more about power and weapon customization, currency, altering clothes and armor, relationship building and all that jazz.

It's awkward to discuss, because RPG in computer gaming has come to mean a specific thing which is rather divorced from what would otherwise be meant by "role playing"

From what I've heard, I think it could be said that ME3 is more of an RPG than previous games, yet contains less role-playing.

yeah I think thats a much better way to put it lol

either way I hope that this is a little exaggerated. I really want to get an overall..good ending I guess, and all of this talk about the endings and death and unavoidable circumstances is scaring me.

I hope all of our ME3 playthroughs wont be as similar as we all seem to believe.

You know, given it's been a success, I'm surprised there aren't more studious trying to replicate it.

Then again, I suppose if a studio is aiming so low as to just replicate, then there are easier genres and success stories to replicate. So maybe I've just answered my own question. Let's be honest, the things fans and reviewers forgive Bioware for, despite all the flack we see on the forums, most reviewers and fans . . .  quite simply don't forgive in other developers (especially new studios, without established trust). They tear into them with even more vigor than even the most angry forumite here.

No - probably not.

Meaning, essentially, ME3 is good at 2 things: being a terrible shooter, and allowing you to be LGBT in space!

Hhmmm . . . that is a better way of putting it, more of an RPG in terms of the numbers, less in terms of the actual roel-playing. I can nod my head in agreement to that.

So, according to some review sites, Mass Effect 3 is better than Mass effect 1/2. And not only that, it is one of the best games EVER MADE.

Giving ME3 a 0 or 1 is trolling, but annoucing it as THE BEST GAME EVAR 10/10 is not?

Seems like the 4chan lot got banned on here and were butthurt about it. Someone should tell them to cry some more because no one is listening. Who listens to metacritic reviews anyway?

Ah, so they're responsible for this?

Can anyone tell me if the site is iffy when it comes to viruses etc.? I got a warning the only time I went on it around DA 2's release, so I quickly logged off.

Would like to check out all of the ranting etc., but don't want a virus.

You know what? You're absolutely right, Jarrett. It's utterly despicable.

I'll be the first to admit that I have some issues with the endings. I also am not a huge fan of the running animations, the low-res textures in some places, and the omni button. But from what I've played so far, and I make no claims to have gotten very far at all, this game is wonderful overall. I can forgive the aspects I have reservations over because it seems to me that you guys have put a lot of effort into tuning ME2 into something even better. It doesn't hurt that I have faith that you'll fill in any gaps that the fanbase raises a clamor over.

So bravo, and don't let the obvious trolls get you down. No game in the history of game development deserves a 0, let alone a couple hundred, especially right after release. Not even Superman 64 was that bad. I plan to put up a more critique oriented review once I've finished the game at least once. And I can promise you and the rest of the team that it will be as fair as humanly possible.

For anyone reading this, exercise common sense when putting a score on a product of someone else's hard
work. It's totally fine to score it however you feel is necessary, so long as you give sufficient reason for why you chose that score. The only way for a developer to improve their delivery of each new iteration is by collecting feedback from fans. That feedback can have concerns and nitpicks galore, just be polite when stating them.

Counter-rant is over now. I'm still blown away by how much petty hatred is flying around Metacritic at this point.

Edit:
I should mention, so that I don't get the word "****" thrown at me, that I DO have some fairly large complaints about the game (from spoilers, largely, which is why I skirted by them above). Make no mistake about this; I will certainly mention them at length in my review. But I cannot and will not condone such senseless raving. That is not an intelligent critique, that is a snap reflex caused by stewing anger from spoilers and leaked content. At least play the game in its entirety, first.

A good post. It's basically about having the common decency to respect the work of others, even if you have issues with a certain product.

Yep, as I don't throw out of hand features I don't like with mental gymnastics. Easier to understand rather than saying "Meh, who CARES" about stuff you don't like. More critical, too.

Honestly, all those percentages should be lower with the appearance import issue.

I can't see this game as being over an 80 until they fix this mess.

I'm fine with the auto dialogue since Shepard has always been a character of Bioware. The way the dialogue goes reminds me a lot of The Witcher 2 and I really liked that system.

In my opinion, no game deserves 9.5 or ffs 10 O_O
Does one even know what these numbers even mean, 10 is flawless game that makes you cry of happiness just by looking at it (mildly said). Most of the reviewers don't take into consideration all aspects of a game, especially not the story in some context. The hype also plays the great role which is just...sad.
Also giving 0s is just plain stupid. I haven't played ME3 (yet), but seeing all those 9.5/10, just shows me just how biased those "professional" reviews are (KoA:R got 9 and the game is basically in beta).

Obviously, which is unfortunate. That's what it deserves at the moment though, and I haven't even started playing the game. Damned appearance.
