When they're just putting in a "review" to complain about the DLC or got stuck on one detail they thought was bad and makes such a huge deal about it which makes it look like they think the whole game is bad because of it, they're not that much better.

If there was a "Like" button I would hit it. So I'll go with "Word"!

It depends on how you look at it. Is it a good game? Yes. Is it an rpg? No. And I think that's really the problem here. Rpg fans have already had their game, the game that was made FOR THEM, stripped away from them and given action packed garbage in the name of Dragon Age 2. And while Mass Effect was never supposed to the God of rpgs, it's gone so far in the other direction that I might as well be playing gears of war.

From an rpg gamer's view. 2.2 is about right. A bit harsh, but right.
From a CoD fan this game is a perfect 10.

I'm an RPG fan, and I think that ME3 deserves a better score... 
Maybe it's not a true RPG, but it makes up for that in the story. I firmly believe that, that is a wrong assessment. I diagree with your opinion.

I skimmed the reviews to avoid spoilers, but was really surprised to read that the XBOX users (like me) may have to swap discs five times, rather than just twice. (source: Gameinformer) That seems odd and burdensome.

So...? No reviews has mentioned the import issues? Yeh im almost 100% now they were not allowed to import while reviewing. Igns Moriarty would understand the issue we had as a fellow me1 fan and it would of never been 9.5

I used to love bioware, but I would rate this game no higher than a 4. Very little RP elements, the story line is weak and a plethora of cheesy lines. 4 hours in and Im fairly disapointed

The introduction of gay romance option in the game easily bumps the score to at least about 9

I have. I'm about 15 hours in. And the game doesn't deserve a 9. Infact, 10 hours in I wrote exactly what I thought about it and my opinion still hasn't changed.

He said the rating was disturbing and probably will be quite damaging. How do you infer that he called people trolls from that? He made a factual statement.

Just throwing this out there... I can't remember the last time they gave out a 10/10, and I've been reading GI for years now.

They gave both Skyward Sword and Batman: Arkham City 10s, so it's been a couple months.

I for one dont rate user reviews on metacritic at all. Never have done, never will do.
As has already been shown (here too) its just full of either fanboys blindly defending or haters ranting over usually small issues and so neither group giving fair reviews.

From what i have seen of it i think i will enjoy it (will find out friday). Its not a full RPG, but its a game with RPG elements and the more games that blur the lines between genres the better IMO.

Look at the top score 10/10. It literally just says "Gay Pride" over and over again. That is not much more objective than the 0 scores.

I find the user review in the middle (5/10) to be the most objective as it contains actual argumentation.

PC Gamer gives the game a high score but says that the story is lacking or doesn't make sense in places. For me that is a fatal flaw along with the auto dialog that prevents roleplaying outside of main decisions. The series has almost made a 180° direction change from where it started and the hate is hardly surprising, specially since this is a trillogy with one main character all the way through.

ME2 did not get such a harsh user treatment eventhough it was highly controversal as well.

It's easy to call everyone with negative feedback trolls and haters, but the big picture suggests that Bioware and EA have completely moved onto unstable territory with DA2 and ME3. Many design decisions are asking for fan rage. That was really not necessary.

A german review summed it up best for me. Here is the rough translation of their verdict:

"Mass Effect is not an RPG. Mass Effect created something new. It's just: Mass Effect."

It's not an RPG in the classical sense. It's also not a shooter in the classical sense. It's something different. Which is why RPers are hating on it as well as shooter fans.

The introduction of STory/Action/RPG mode was an attempt of BioWare to cater to all factions, but honestly, I don't think they need to.
